Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The first one

I couldn't believe when I looked at the thermometer this morning it read 50 degrees.  Hard to believe a couple of weeks ago when I walked it was 10.  The cold is due back again this weekend.  It was a cloudy morning and I was glad of the breeze because it kept me from getting too warm.
I walked over to the post office first and dropped off the Christmas cards in the drop and then walked around town for a little before walking around the farm loop.
A picture I took a long the way.  I used to see Cow 29 in this field but she has been in the barn and I don't get to see her any more.
I saw a bunch of mallard ducks in one of the farm ponds but it was too dark to take a picture.
A quiet walk this morning - didn't see anyone around. Whether I meet people or not it is still great to be out there walking.
I walked 6.1 miles - 11,728 steps.

We were going to go out and get our Christmas tree today but it rained and we want to go on a nice day.  We are going to a place where you cut down your own tree.  Planning on getting a small 5 foot one.

The Welsh Cookies get delivered to Sherry tomorrow at work.  I have them in groups of four wrapped in plastic wrap.  There are 5 dozen and 4 extra cookies.  The extra four rounded out the box.  Debbie - the recipe is HERE.  I'm looking forward to Saturday for the cookie sale.  I'll have to buy some of Wayne's chocolate chip cookies to compare with mine.  Wayne is Sherry's husband.
My grandson Japhy who is 7 checked out this book from the library when he was visiting.  There are a series of these books and he loves them.  I read it today just to see what kind of books he likes.  It was good and I can see why he likes it.  Good present ideas for the future too.
We received our first Christmas card today in the mail and it came from my blogging friend Debbie at A Day in the Life.  Thanks Debbie.  I'm hanging them up on the doorway between the foyer and library with some stuff that looks like clay.  You take a little piece and put in on the card and press it to the wall.  Seems to be working good so far.
I finished a scarf I've been knitting and you can check it out HERE if you'd care to take a look.

That's my day so far.
Later we are going to watch the Sound of Music on television and have some ice cream.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

We are watching "The Sound of Music," too! That is my all time favorite movie! I love the music!

Our grandson is a fan of the Wimpy Kid books.

Why do I always feel hungry when I read about your day? ;-). It is great that Japhy loves to read. My granddaughter does, too. Enjoy Friday, I am glad to see the end of the work week. Art

Hello - so glad the Christmas card reached you safely! I love the scarf and the way you used it to wrap the Christmas ornament. We had our church ladies Christmas dinner last night. I think I will try that cookie recipe! Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

P.S. There is an entire series of the Wimpy Kids books - my grandson likes them too. You can get the boxed set at Walmart - it doesn't cost too much. Also, a new book in the series just came out in time for Christmas. Your grandson probably hasn't read it. It was just published in 2013. I got it and mailed to my little guy a few weeks ago.

Ohhh...thanks for the book recommendation. I'm always looking for tips for boys! Can't wait to hear about those "other" chocolate chip cookies. Ha! What a sweet gift of God...a 50f day!
