Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Enjoy and remember

It felt like spring walking this morning.  It was 50 degrees with a slight breeze.  Didn't need any layering today.  It was cloudy and every once in a while it was a bit misty but not enough to get me wet.  Not much snow left now as you can see in the picture.

I walked the farm loop and then around town a bit.  Lone Chicken and one friend were out of the hen house today.  First time I've seen her in quite a while.  One of the farm ponds I walked by had quite a lot of Mallard ducks on it.  My three horse friends were out near the fence over by the Drane house.

Didn't see anyone else out walking but as I passed by a workman checking out the drains he said good morning and told me he sees me walking all over the place.  Quite a few people tell me that!!

I walked 6.1 miles.

We haven't had pancakes for breakfast in a while so I made them this morning.

While I was out walking, Ken wrapped my Christmas presents and after breakfast I wrapped his.  We put them under the tree and are now all set for Christmas.

This afternoon Ken hung the blue plates above the cabinets in the kitchen for me.  Ken made some hooks on the back of the plates and tested them out by hanging them on a wall in the basement low to the floor for a while in case they fell.
I kept the plates in a group instead of spreading them out and will add more as I find others on our travels.  I like looking at them up there. : )
We've been home all day just enjoying time around the house.  It's nice to be done with all the Christmas stuff and now we can just enjoy it.

Hope your plans are all coming together as well and that you can take time to enjoy the day and remember that Jesus is the reason we are celebrating this wonderful holiday.

A happy day to you all my friends.

I sometimes think we expect too much of Christmas Day.
We try to crowd into it the long arrears of kindliness
and humanity of the whole year.
As for me, I like to take my Christmas a little at a time,
all through the year.
And thus I drift along into the holidays,
let them overtake me unexpectedly,
walking up some fine morning
and suddenly saying to myself:
Why, this is Christmas Day.

  2. Wonderful blue plates! I like that Ken tested them that way. Would he say how he accomplished it? I read on Pinterest that one could E6000 a soda tab onto the back of a plate that one only wished to use for hanging. I have my stuff at the ready, but haven't given it the final whirl. I think it looks much nicer than plate hangers and is better for the plate itself.

    My gosh...your snow really is almost gone. I hope that ours doesn't go the same way, but it's in danger with all this rain on its way.

  3. Your plates look so pretty hanging there!

    I am as ready for Christmas as I will ever be so I am just rolling with the flow now as that old song goes.

    You have the nicest places to walk. I really enjoyed the photo with the mallard ducks.

  4. I've just returned from a walk and can tell you it is very spring-like here too. Feels more like Easter than Christmas.
    I love your new plates and they look so pretty against your blue walls. Like Vee, I'm curious to know how Ken achieved this.
    I agree with you about it being so nice to have time to enjoy the season rather than rushing through it all.

  5. David Grayson has some really good words for us to follow!

    I wondered if you expect snow from this storm system that is causing such problems over part of the United States.

    It's good to be able to relax now and enjoy the days ahead!

    Merry Christmas!

  7. This weather has us all confused, including the animals. Good you got to see them and also that you could walk again in the great outdoors.

    Enjoy your happy days!
