Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Snow

So we got some snow last night and I got to walk this morning in a snow white wonderland. : )  I took this picture as soon as I walked out the back door.
It was 25 degrees, a bit windy and it was still snowing though it stopped after about three inches.  I was going to walk the farm loop but to get there I'd have to walk on the main road for about a mile, and the main road was slushy and the cars going by would have gotten me wet so I just stayed on the back roads around town and up to the cemeteries.  Here's a few pictures I took along my walk.  All the footprints in the pictures are mine!

I passed by Lone Chicken and she looked warm and cozy sitting in the straw.

If this snow happened where I used to live all the schools would have been closed and everyone in a panic.  Here all the schools were still open and on time and the snow was no big deal.  I like that!

It was nice being out in the snow early this morning.
I walked 6.2 miles - 11,942 steps.

Mid morning we headed out to Grantsville to check out a antique store.  I'm now looking for some old inexpensive plates that have blue in them.  I want to hang them in the kitchen on the wall over the cabinets.  Didn't find any there but it was nice looking at everything.  This place was kind of up scale so we probably won't go back there.  I like antique stores that are a bit messy and you really have to look to find things.

Still reading that book but I will be able to finish before tomorrow evening.  I don't usually finish reading books that I don't like, but made an exception because it was for the book club.

I had some happy news from my son David today.  He asked if he and the kids could come for Thanksgiving.  : )  What a question, of course I said YES, YES, YES!!

Our friend Ron, (neighbor and from church) hurt his shoulder a few weeks ago and he has to have surgery on it Thursday at 10:00.  It is supposed to be a very painful recovery.  I ask that those of you who pray to please say a prayer that all goes well.  Thanks so much!

We had a few more snow flurries during the day but they didn't amount to anything more.  The sun even came out for a little while but it stayed cold - never made it out of the 20's.

Hope your day has been a good one and you smiled often.
happyone  : )
God gave you the gift of 86,400 seconds today.
Have you used one to say,
Thank You?

Snow? You are in some weird weather pattern down there! We're going up to the 60s next week! Perhaps you are, too. What fun to have family for Thanksgiving! Yahoo! Yes, will pray for your neighbor and friend to recover much more quickly and easily than anticipated. I knew that you'd be willing to meet everyone!

So pretty! When I lived in Maine - just after the Civil War, I think :^) - I used to love, love, love walking, skiing and snowshoeing in our winter wonderland. glad you can enjoy some of this - a bit different weather from the Baltimore area, eh?

Saying a little prayer for a good recovery for Ron.

The snow is beautiful. I started to call today and ask if you had snow, but got busy and didn't do it. It's great to see the pictures.
I know you're excited that David and the grandchildren will be at your house for Thanksgiving. Since you were planning to make the traditional Thanksgiving meal for you and Kenny, all you have to do is add more water to the soup, as our pastor often says.
I will remember Ron in my prayer tonight.
Stay well and enjoy the snow. Mary Jo

Snow! How pretty! A bit messy for walking, but pretty. We had snow in our prediction, but had not one flake - except a little cover in the mountains.

Sounds like a great Thanksgiving is coming up! Good news!

You definitely received more snow than we did today. Ours only stuck to the grass and the rooftops and melted off by early afternoon. Wednesday is going to be bitter cold, though - 16 degrees! Too soon for that!

I love all your photos from your walk today. Everything looks so pretty!

How exciting that your son and his family will be spending Thanksgiving with you! :-D

Count me in on remembering your friend, Ron, in prayer. May his surgery be successful and recovery quick and complete.

Ah snow always makes me hearken back to childhood wonder. So beautiful. And I am most definitely saying a prayer.

And so it begins. Snow, snow and more snow. I envy you. I totally LOVE snow and as you know we don't see all that much in this area. But I am hopeful as the prediction is for a harder winter this year - and if it is hard for us here - it will be very exciting for you there!!!

Your snowfall looks so pretty. We got snow flurries here last night too. If you didn't happen to be looking outside when it happened you would have never known it, however.
How nice it will be for you to have David and his family with your for Thanksgiving.
I wonder how the other ladies in your book club liked the book.
