Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cross stitching again

At 6:30 this morning is was dark, raining and very windy so I decided to wait awhile before walking.  At 8:15 it was still windy but the rain had stopped and it was light out so I went walking then.  Almost lost my hat a couple of times to the wind and the clouds were racing across the sky!!

Walked along the main street in town and then over to the post office to mail a couple of bills.  Then headed up around the farm loop.  Very quiet this time of morning with most people off to work and school started.  The only vehicles on the farm road I saw was a tractor mowing the grass on the sides of the road and a Lowe's delivery truck.

With it being Halloween and all the kids and candy around last night I was pleasantly surprised this morning not to find a single piece of candy or wrapper on the ground anywhere! : )

Saw a few cows down by the fence and my one lone chicken friend but that was it.  No wildlife.

I'm just about home here now.  That's my house on the right.
 I walked 6 miles - 11,220 steps.
During the month of October I only found one coin - a dime.

By the time I got home from walking I was really hungry.  Ken didn't eat breakfast because he waited for me : ) so I made us strawberry pancakes.  I had put some strawberries in the freezer a while back and they get all syrupy which make them perfect for pancakes. I put some strawberries in the batter and then we put strawberries on top too.  I didn't want breakfast to end, they tasted so good!!

It stayed very windy all day but the sun was out and it was a pretty day.

I did something this afternoon that I haven't done in quite a while, I did some counted cross stitch.  I have a large project started from some years ago and really want to get it finished.  I forgot how much I enjoy doing this quiet, time consuming, relaxing hobby.

All day it has seemed like Saturday to me.
Hope all is going well for you today.

Since it's November all the quotes for this month are going to be about being Thankful.
When you rise in the morning,
give thanks for the light,
for your life,
for your strength.
Give thanks for your food
and for the joy of living.
If you see no reason to give thanks,
the fault lies in yourself.

Love your blog. Also love your Groucho Marx quote. Just maybe fix it a bit--put comma after third "I".

We have a similar or same weather system. I love a clean community. Ours is not. Tecumseh was a wise man.

I love this post - so happy and cheerful even though the weather was bleak and blustery. We are still sunny and warm - upper 80s expected next week. Those strawberry pancakes sound good! Have a happy weekend.

We had a windy blustery day too, but the rain kept blowing across the yard almost all day.

Strawberry pancakes! Man! They really do sound tasty!

It sounds like it was a quite peaceful walk for you this morning. It's great that there was no litter of candy wrappers. You must live in a town that takes pride in being neat!

It was a windy grey morning here too. I brought my raincoat on my walk but didn't need it. I start my walks later than you and it's nice not to have the school kids on 'my'sidewalks'. I remember when you did counted cross stitch. I used to love it too. I still have an unfinished project. Maybe I'll get mine out again one day.

Happy day!

Mmm, those pancakes do sound mighty tasty.
I hope you'll share your cross stitch project when it's complete. I've been picking away at one for over a year. I need some inspiration to stick with it.

Those pancakes sound good. I am up early Saturday just relaxing and reading, enjoying some hot tea in my Savage River Lodge mug! Pancakes would be good today! Enjoy your Saturday. Art

It's time for breakfast and I would love some of those strawberry pancakes. I may make some soon.
Love the way you enjoy the day, no matter the weather.
