Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A man named Harry

A warm 35 degrees this morning with no breeze and I got to watch the sun come up again.  Didn't see much of it after that though because the clouds covered it up and my walk was a cloudy one.

I took a different route today walked up the main road here in the picture.  Up ahead on the right before the bend is a road to the right which leads up to Happy Trails.  I passed up that and continued down the hill.
I made a left turn and walked down here
which took me over a bridge and along this road along the river.
I walked till my Striiv said 3.2 miles and then I turned around and headed back.
A couple of photos on the way back.

I saw a huge deer with antlers in the woods along the river.
No people were out.
It was nice walking along the river and listening to the water.  So nice and peaceful.  Only one car passed me.  Then it was back to the main road and uphill all the way home!!

I walked 6.5 miles - 12,719 steps.

Ken went up to Happy Trails again today and I stayed home again.  I wanted to get some reading done and work on my counted cross stitch.

Oh, some happy news.  Brenda, from the nursing home called me this morning to let me know that I now have a person to adopt for Christmas. I wrote down his gift list and she told me that is name is Harry. : )  I will be going to meet him on Monday.  Brenda said he loves to talk and can't wait to meet me.

I went to Pastor Leatherman's house this evening.  His wife Kathy invited all the ladies over for a turkey meal.  She made hot turkey sandwiches and we all were asked to bring something pumpkin.  Those Pumpkin Whoopies I made yesterday was what I brought and none of them came back home with me.  They were a hit!!  Thanks again Nellie. : )
I had such a nice time with the ladies and it was nice getting to know them better and meeting new people too.

No ice cream for me this evening.  I had more than enough snacks already and they were all pumpkin!

Hope your day was a happy one and I wish you all pleasant dreams.
happyone : )

it is thankful people who are happy.

Oh! I love it! You took the Pumpkin Whoopie Pies! I would be happy that none came back home with me!:-) In fact, I took most of them to our daughter and son-in-law!:-)

That was a lovely thing that the minister's wife did tonight, and such a good idea! I'll have to remember that for an entertaining idea sometime!

There is still snow around you! We didn't see even a flurry this week, though there was some in the mountains.

Have a good night!

John and I have just been amazed by the barn photo where the road is so close. It's a great picture! You are doing so good, Karen, at settling in and becoming part of your community. Oh and congrats on adopting a senior, too. He's a blessed man! And I'm certain that there'll be a great blessing for you, too.

With the photos you took today I felt as if I was walking right along with you!

What lovely photos of your walk. I especially liked the sunrise photo. Your afternoon with the ladies from the church sounded very pleasant! Food sounded good too. I have been trying to see if there is an "adopt a senior" for Christmas program around here, but I haven't found one yet. Still looking. The young people from our church did that a few years back - they adopted a whole church congregation of seniors and took them gifts on Christmas Eve. Don't know if they will do it again this year. Have a wonderful weekend!

All righty!!! I hope we all get to meet Harry someday through your blog. He doesn't know what a treat he is in for!! And you will also be blessed by knowing him!

Looks like a very pretty walk.
It warmed my heart to read about your desire to meet a resident of the nursing home and also provide a nice Christmas for him. I know this will be a good experience for both of you.
It always made me so sad to see the people who never got any visitors when my mom was living in the assisted living home.
What a nice thing for your pastor's wife to do. Sounds like a fun time for all.
