Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Here I am

Here I am back again.  Just needed a bit of a blog break.
My morning walk today took me up and down the streets around the house at first.  I'm only about 1/2 mile from home here where I took this picture.  It is at one of the little parks in town.  I walked up the grassy hill to get a better view.
I continued walking all over town.  No special route just a nice random walk.  Went around the ball park loop a couple of times and around one of the cemeteries too.

I see Lisa every now and then like today and we stopped to talk.  I learned that she lives right behind me up the hill.  You might remember the two little ponies I took a picture of some time ago.  They are her ponies and she said they are friendly and would love it if I petted them some time.

I heard something rustling in the bushes along the way but didn't see anything.  Probably a deer.  There were a couple of racoons, sorry to say dead in the road having been hit by cars and a cat too.

Passed by the one lone chicken and her feathers are still all over the place and it looks like she is pulling them out.  Maybe she is depressed being all on her own.  I think she killed all the other chickens that were there.

As usual it was great to be out and walking. : )
I walked 6.3 miles - 11,962 steps.
I've found a few pennies here and there the last few days.

The siding we ordered for the upper shed came in the other day and we went up to Happy Trails and got started.  Didn't do much but at least it is started.
Ken is there now working on it and I'm sure he will get a lot done.  I didn't go because I drove up to the produce market in Hilltop to pick up some good things to eat.  I stayed away from the candy section.  Still don't have a picture but I'll get one.
I took a picture of the fruits and vegetables I bought once I got home.
We still haven't gotten new neighbors on the side of us but when I walked down to get the mail when I got home I met a new neighbor from across the street.  Russel moved out this weekend and so I was surprised to see someone new in there already.  It is a big Victorian house and the woman who owns it, is renting it out for now.  Eventually she would like to turn it into a shop of some kind, maybe for artists.  But who knows when.
Anyway this new renter Chris seems very nice.  I'll have to bring him some chocolate chip cookies.

I'm off now to do a little reading out on the porch.
Hope your day is happy and bright.

  4. That beautiful produce looks better than any candy! John wants you to know that he found another quarter and a penny last night. Ken probably got a whole side done. One good thing, you don't have to be in a hurry.

So nice of you to be planning to take cookies to your new neighbor.

  10. Love the new picture on your header but the cows are still my favorite. I have slowed down my blogging this year but still posting a few times a month.

I, too, took a picture of Vegs after visiting my local farm stand but have yet to blog about it.

  11. Glad you're back to blogging. Your neighbors are fortunate to have you to bring them homemade cookies.
I think one reason you are happy is because you are always doing something nice for someone.
