Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Feeling like fall

46 degrees this morning, cloudy with a bit of a breeze out there.  I left 15 minutes later than usual just to wait until the sky started to brighten up a bit.  I think I may stick to 6:45 so it's not so dark.
Headed first off to the post office to drop off a Netflix and a card.  Then walked up the road to the school and around the farm loop.
Walked up this road which is called Distillery Lane because at one time there was a distillery but it burned down in the 70's.  There are a few houses along this narrow gravel road.
I saw three deer bounce along as if they were on springs at the edge of a corn field and they were snorting as they ran along!
A flock of pigeons flew overhead.  There must have been 20 of them!!

It is starting to look like fall around here with the leaves just starting to turn.  This row of trees runs along my neighbors back yard.  The last tree in the picture is in our yard.  You can see our blue truck in the driveway.
I didn't see any people out today but the usual cows, horses and chickens were around.

I walked 6.1 miles - steps 11,608.
Didn't find any coins today but yesterday I found a nickel.

I was going to go up to Happy Trails with Ken but the weather wasn't so great in the morning so I decided to stay home and get some things done around the house.  Last time Ken went there he finished 3 sides of the upper shed with siding so he should finish it today.

After lunch I walked to the library to pick up the next book for the book club next month.  It's called The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker.  While there I checked out 2 other books and a magazine.

My next door neighbor Harold was out in his front yard cutting down a few pine trees  that had died.  I stopped to talk with him a while on my way to the library.  He is Evajean's husband who you might remember came over one evening a while ago to meet us.  I've waved and said hi to Harold before but this was the first time that we actually talked.  He is very nice and had a few stories to tell me. : )

I've already put together a zucchini casserole for supper and have just put it in the oven.  So when Ken comes home it should be ready.

The sun came out in the afternoon but the temperature has stayed in the 50's.  A little cool but a fine fall day.

May your Monday be a happy one.

Yum! Save a place for me! I love zucchini casserole.:-)

Isn't is great to be able to walk around town where you want to go - like to the post office and the library? Where we live, it is a seven-mile drive to either one - and not a very safe walking way, either. Along busy roads with no shoulders! I think they must follow former cow paths.:-)

Have a good evening!

I can't believe that your leaves are changing their already! It's getting cooler here too (high of 68 today) but the leaves haven't changed yet. I can't wait though :)

Your weather sounds like ours and the foliage seems to be at a similar place. Are you in a completely different weather zone because it seems as if you're in a whole other part of the country? Pretty interesting.

It is feeling a bit like fall here too. I am enjoying the cooler air.
I'm interested to hear how you like the book. I've not heard of it and am curious to know what it's about.
Glad to know you were able to meet a new neighbor.

I love the fall weather. It is my favorite time of year, and the time I probably most long to be retired so that I can spend more time out and about enjoying it. I am glad that you enjoyed your day.

A beautiful fall indeed you have described, our fall has arrived too, and it is so nice. I love seeing the leaves change their colors, I also find that some interesting names stay with roads and lanes carrying history long after the namesakes are gone, I like that very much.
Your day sounds just so perfect! Thanks for sharing.
Blessings, Sue
