Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Rows of sunflowers

56 degrees and just a little bit of fog around when I started out but the sun soon came shining through.  Here are some rows of sunflowers growing between fields of  corn all facing toward the sun and waiting for it to shine fully on them.
It was beautiful out there walking again today.  The weather couldn't be any better.

I saw Evelena again.  I also saw Lisa who I met a while back but she was far away and didn't see me.  She was running through town.

Every day I see lots of gold finches and the usual rabbits.
I've only seen a couple of squirrels since I've been here and they are little scrawny things and are reddish.  I must look them up and learn some more about them.  Hard to get a picture too because they scampered off so fast!!

This is one of the roads I walk along most every day.  There is another little cemetery along side the church up ahead and the fourth one I walk by!
While walking through town I saw my neighbors Ron and Connie and they tooted and waved as they passed by in the car.

I walked 6 miles - 11,760 steps.

We went to Home Depot because that is the closest place to us that sells homasote and Ken needed it for his hobby.  It is in Uniontown, Pa. so we had a nice little ride as well.  While there we also picked up wood to make a bed frame for Cheryl's Room (spare room).  We had a coupon that had to be used by tomorrow so we saved a little money too.  There was a Walmart in the area too and we went there and got two gallons of a light yellow paint.  Since Cheryl's Room is in the basement with only two little windows, I thought a nice yellow paint would brighten it up.  Right now the room is painted a dark rose color.  I'm also going to paint my bathroom the same yellow.

We stopped for lunch at Applebee's which was in Uniontown also.  They have those small lunch plates that are just perfect for lunch.  I thought of my friend Mary Jo when we where there because it was one our favorite places to go to for lunch.

A pet peeve of mine is when we eat out how the servers are so ready to take away all the dishes so fast.  Sometimes, I'm not even finished eating and they are asking to take it out of my way. It's NOT in my way I'm still eating!!  Sometimes they don't even ask and I have to stop them.  What is the hurry, don't they have enough clean dishes!  Unless you have so much food and the dishes are piling up on the table, I think that they should clear the table after we leave.  If one person is finished eating and they remove all the plates, I think if makes the person left eating feeling awkward.  Just a little rant there.  Am I the only one that this bothers?

I guess I could start painting but just don't don't feel like starting it this late in the day.  So a nice sit out on the front porch sounds like a better thing to do. : )

We've had a mix of sun and clouds today and it is bit on the warm side but a very pleasant day.
A happy day to you my friends.

Kim - My Dad did like to walk and when I was little girl we had many walks together.  He didn't walk much later in life and in fact he died of a heart attach.

Vee - Great idea about silencing my camera.  Now why didn't I think of that!? : )

I love the sunflowers. Sounds like you had a very nice day. I totally agree with you about servers taking plates away. I am a slow eater so it seems I am always the last one done when I eat with others. I love that you are painting some rooms a lovely yellow...we have several rooms painted yellow. We like bright, happy colors in our home :-)
Glad you are relaxing a big this afternoon. Enjoy your evening. See you tomorrow!

That is a wonderful field of sunflowers!

It sounds like you have had quite a full day. When do you plan to start painting?:-)

It bothers me about the dishes too and that they always say "let me get those out of your way" when they aren't really in my way. lol. What is even worse to me is being called honey, darling, sweetie, or sugar. To me it's very disrespectful and some try to say it's a southern thing. When I was growing up (in the south)I can't imagine a younger person addressing an older person by names like that. It was always Miss, Mrs, or Mamam.

That sunflower field is so pretty. I think your new area looks so peaceful and the neighbors sound friendly too.
I do agree with you on the premature clearing of plates. Most annoying! Of course you already know that I am a bit grumpy today :).
Will be sending you an e-mail about a very nice surprise I received today.

Love the sunflowers.. (You knew I would say that... ha)... Glad you are making so many new friends in your new home...

The yellow will be gorgeous --and will lighten the room..

We love Applebee's and I usually get one of their under 550 calorie meals... We take George's Daddy there sometimes...

Hugs,
Betsy

As someone who used to be a waiter, I can explain a little. Waiter and waitresses are trained to do that. My managers used to always hammer that in our heads and we would get in trouble if a table left and they're were a ton of plates on the table. It's called "pre-bussing" and they are very strict about it. The idea is that when a table leaves the busboy won't have two make 2-3 trips to the table to clear everything. Just an FYi that it's the manager's fault and not the waiter/waitress :)

You had a rant? Wow. I didn't know that you had rants. ; D

To answer your question, yes, I have had the same complaint. I might understand if the restaurant is very busy, but not otherwise. I may have actually grabbed a waitress's wrist or maybe I have just felt like doing that. LOL

And now that I have read OE's comment, I'll try to remember his point.
