Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Clothes Line

It was 60 degrees and a cloudy morning but it looked like the sun was trying to break through.
I walked my farm route and came across a woman walking in the opposite direction and we stopped to meet and had a little chat.  Her name is Evalena.  Not sure of the spelling.  She asked if I walked the 'loop' so my route already has a name!

I saw a deer run in and out of the corn a couple of times.  I also saw about 50 mourning doves sitting on a wire.  Never saw so many of them together before.  You know the sound their wings make when they fly.  Well, it was something to hear so many of them at one time when they flew away.
Down by the farm where the chickens and roosters run around I counted at least 6 cats.  This one was taking a rest sitting on the fence post.
All the mailboxes have these sticks which are about 6 feet tall by them so when the snow plows come along they won't take a mailbox out.   This should be quite a different winter for us. The locals say you aren't local until you've lived through a winter!  : )
I walked the 'loop' and then walked around town to make up the rest of the six miles.  I have a good route down now .
I walked 6.1 miles which was 11,709 steps.

Sad news about the birds nest.  Went to check it yesterday and saw it on it's side and the two eggs broken on the ground.  Never did learn what kind of birds they were.

I finally gave my car a good washing and took it for a little drive on some windy roads.  Mary Jo, you would have enjoyed the ride.  : )

I've had a temporary clothes line out on the deck

but today I helped Ken put up a proper clothes line out back.  It has four lines which is just perfect.  It was so nice to be able to put in anywhere we wanted and we didn't break any rules because there aren't any rules to break!!! : )  I sure do like living here and I love my clothes line!

Hope you had some happy moments today and you smiled often.

People say, find good people and let go of the bad ones.
But it should be,
Find the good in people and let go of the bad.
No one is perfect.

  1. I chuckled at that cat watching you from the post.:-)

You look right at home standing by that clothes line.:-)

Are bad winters the norm where you are living now?

    Enjoy your Monday evening.

That's quite a large backyard; how nice.
Yes, I do miss zooming around in your 'vette.
I can hardly believe all the animals you see in a day!
    Enjoy yourselves. MJ

  6. I would love living where the winters are actual winters - where you need markers so that various things aren't lost in snow. What I am eager to see is how you cope with being trapped in the house because the snow is too high - or not yet cleared! Have you given that any thought? I used to have a treadmill, but I always hated it because it was just so boring, so that doesn't seem like an option for you.

I loved the picture of you with your clothes line. I know how important that is to you.

  7. Looks like you are settling in well. Interesting that you listed the steps you took. I wear a pedometer most days, too. It's an easy way to get in enough exercise.
    Enjoy your clothesline!
