Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

High and Muddy

It was 58 degrees and it wasn't raining when I started walking this morning but when I got to the lake I felt a few drops of rain and a quarter of the way around the lake those few drops turned into lots of drops and since I didn't bring my umbrella I got pretty wet.  Ken called to see if I needed rescuing but I told him no I didn't mind walking in the rain. Over by the main entrance the rain slowed down and finally stopped for a while.  It got pretty windy and I started drying out.  No more rain while walking but we did have more on and off rain during the day.

I only saw 3 other people walking around the lake and they were as wet as I was!!  They didn't seem to mind either.

Saw a few birds and a few more geese but all the other wild life must have been trying to keep dry someplace.

The stream along the path behind the church was high and muddy.
I found a quarter.
Walked 6.6 miles.

I went out and did a few things and while out changed around a few appointments I had.  I find it easier going in person instead of talking over the phone.
I was back home by lunch time.

I have been really bad about doing my Body Electric exercise and haven't done it since I was in the hospital back in March.  So this afternoon I decided it was time to get back to it.  I'm sure I'm going to be a bit sore tomorrow!!

After that I had a snack of celery and peanut butter and then made a batch of chili for tomorrows supper.  We can get three meals out of my chili recipe so I will freeze the leftovers and save it for two suppers while we are living in the trailer.

Ken is making us a stir fry for supper tonight. He is quite a good cook!!  Lucky me!!

That's been my Friday so far.
Hope you're enjoying your Friday.

You live this famous quote! MJ

All men should know how to cook! It is a pre-requisit, for becoming married. ,-)

Btw, as well as their father, both our sons, also love to cook. And our daughter married a man, who loves to cook. How about that!

Do you see a pattern there? ,-)

When I read about your walk in the rain it brought to mind that old postal creed which I just had to visit Wikipedia to remember how it went.

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds

I think this seems to also describe HappyOne and her dedication to her morning walks :).

Stir fry and chili sounds tasty. Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend.

I agree with MJ - you live your quote of the day! My hubby also likes to cook, so this summer, we are going to have Man's Night in the Kitchen and he and Josh will have to plan and cook the meal. I am hoping this will teach my son some more cooking skills. We sure could use a nice, cooling rain out here. Have a good weekend!

It sounds like a very good day, in spite of the rain. You have been very productive!

I'd hoped to go to a cool spot for a hike today (day off) but it took so long at PT and then it was pouring rain, so I just did some stuff around the house and then took a nice walk. So good for you, walking rain and all. Art

One of my favorite sayings! John can only fry corn flakes, but he can make a great pot of coffee and a good root beer float. Sounds as if this weather system covers the entire Eastern seaboard. I'm ready for it to move on.

Bet your chili is good. It would taste good tonight since it is so cool outside today.. We even have a fire in the fireplace tonight---latest in May ever for us!!!!

Sometimes it's just fun to walk in the rain!!!!! George and I do alot of hiking in the rain it seems.

Hope you have a great weekend. Happy Memorial Day --and don't forget to thank God for our service men and women who do/did so much for us to keep us safe.

Hugs,
Betsy

I really love walking in the rain. I also love hiking in the rain. I go as much as I can when I know it's going to be raining!
