Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Tuesday

Once again thank you all for your kind comments!! : )  Debbie, your comment brought tears to my eyes.  That is one of the nicest thing you could ever say to me.  Thank you!!

It was a bit foggy this morning and 50 degrees as I headed out for my walk, but once I walked down the hill the fog cleared.  It was still cloudy and once in a while it misted but it was very light and I didn't get wet.  I even got a few peeks of blue sky every now and then.

Before getting to the main road I turned right and went to visit the two horses at one of the farms.  This brown one always trots over to see me when I walk by and I talk to her a while.  I want to pet her but not sure if I should.  I don't know anything about horses.  I never see any people about to ask if I could pet her.  I have a friend in my knitting group who works with horses, I'll have to ask her about horse etiquette. : )
Then I walked to town and passed by the house again and then just walked around till Ken came to pick me up and we headed back up to HT.
I walked 5.8 miles.

This is the site we picked for the next shed we are building up at the very top of our land.  Ken worked on getting everything level so we can start building and I walked around with the cutters making sure the driveway up to the site is clear.
After lunch we decided to go exploring a bit in the car to see what else is around.  We drove to Uniontown, Pa which is about 40 miles away.  There is a mall there and lots of the chain restaurants.  The other big town closest to here is in Morgantown, WV and will check that out another day.

Late afternoon we went to Lowe's and got lumber for framing the shed floor .  Tomorrow we will do that and hopefully I'll be able to show you the floor framing done.

I've been noticing a lot of birds around so I put a bird bath down at the start of my trail.  No birds there yet though.  I will be able to sit on the deck and watch them and maybe get some good pictures.
After supper at Ledo's we are now getting some internet time in.

So that's been my day.
Hope you enjoyed yours.
Happyone : )

I can't help you with the horse etiquette. He sure does look like he'd be friendly though.
I think your new house is so exciting and was wondering how long until we, I mean you, get to move in. Ha ha. I read your previous post and now know the answer. Not sure if I can wait that long :D.
Like all of the others, I am in disbelief that someone left an unkind comment for you. Glad to hear that a simple delete took care of that.

Beautiful horse! Did you ever watch "The Horse Whisperer?" I'm no expert - I leave that to one of our daughters - but I would think horses would appreciate your pleasant words. Of course, you'd need permission first, but they do enjoy apples and carrots.:-) Our daughter and her husband have five. We sent a two-pound bag of carrots for them for Christmas.:-)

It sounds like you are in a perfect location! Hard work is ahead, and I wish you well.

My mother grew up on a farm outside of Uniontown and I grew up in the country outside of Carmichaels PA which is another half hour beyond. The drive on 68 to Morgantown is gorgeous in the fall. Glad you are taking some time to look around!

Oh how neat... Glad you found some 'nearby' cities --that aren't too far away. We are about an hour from Knoxville --and it's great to have that city nearby when we 'need' and want it!!!!!

Things are looking great at Happy Trails.
Hugs,
Betsy

Hope that you find out about the horse because he certainly looks interested in striking up a friendship. Another great day at HT...love the birdbath...it fits right in with the forest decor.

The horse is beautiful. Maybe you should carry a carrot or an apple in case you do get a chance to pet him.
Have fun at Happy Trails.

That is such a lovely area you are in. We vacationed there once some years back and have a picture we took of the Maryland Mountains (near Hagarstown) hanging on the wall of our family room. It is such a beautiful place. Are you near Antitam? We visited a lot of Civil War Battlefields when we lived in the midwest. Your area is so rich in beauty and history!

Your land is beautiful and you are making progress in building things, and finding out what is nearby. Say hi to your new horse friend for me, they do like carrots.

I've worked with horses a lot so here are a few tips which might be helpful. 1, Please don't offer any tit bits as this makes horses bad tempered with each other and can make them nip the next person who comes along. They are quite happy just to say hello. 2. Hold your hand out flat with your fingers close together. This will prevent any nips. 3. Without any sudden movements let the horse sniff your hand. 4. Calmly stroke the horse's nose and be amazed at how soft it is. 5. If the horse is still quiet slide your hand along its neck and stroke it gently there. A happy horse will have its ears forward. Ears back mean either the horse is nervous or looking behind itself. I often go and say hello to the ponies in the fields next to our garden.
