Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

My exciting news!!

This news is exciting and big so thought it deserved a post all its own. : )

As regular readers here know we have some land in western Maryland called Happy Trails and we go up there often.  It is a peaceful calm place and we really like the slower pace and the little town there.  The more we are up there the more we like it. We have built a tractor barn and plan on building a cabin there too. The cabin started out small and seems to get bigger and bigger each time Ken redesigns it.  It means a lot of work for us and years of building.

Yesterday morning as I walked in town I walked along a road I don't usually walk and saw a house with a For Sale sign on it.  It was a cute, neat and trim two car garage rancher with a big shed out back and I fell in love with the house and property.   I thought what a great place that would be to live, but it probably costs a lot.  I stopped and picked up the leaflet that was in front and saw that it was really a good price and the pictures of the inside were just as nice as the outside.
I got to thinking how nice it would be to have a house right in town and be close to Happy Trails.  We could still make trails and build a one room cabin like it started out  and it would still be our get-a-way.  The more I thought about it, the more excited I became that this house was where I wanted to live.  When I saw Ken coming to get me in the truck, I ran over to him waving the leaflet in the air.  He too liked the house and thought it a good idea.
So we called our realtor Amy (who sold us the land) and made an appointment to see the house later that day.
The listing realtor showed up too and we had a tour of the house.  The inside was perfect just like a model and was move in ready.
Only thing was, the listing realtor said that a there was already a contract on the house.  We were so disappointed.
I won't go into all the details, but the listing realtor lied to us and quite a few other people so she could get the commission.  But our realtor straightened things out and the good and exciting news is that things worked out, we put in a contract and it was accepted.  The house is ours!! : )
So folks come the end of the summer we will have a new house to live in.
In just a couple of weeks we will put our townhouse up for sale.

The only down side of this is that I will miss my morning walks around the lake, my many friends here and most of all my church!  But life is an adventure and you have to take opportunities when they come.

Thinking how all this worked out and the many chance happenings that made this happen and the prayers we've said, I know that God was watching over us and helping us make the right decisions.

So would you like to see some pictures of this house of ours?  Silly question!!

Our new house

So that's my very exciting news!!
Did I surprise you?

It looks lovely! So happy for you and Ken! If Ken doesn't have one already, I think a riding mower might be in order. ;-)

CONGRATULATIONS!

The house looks charming and I already can't wait to see the inside of it. Hint hint :). It looks like it's yellow on the outside. Is that correct?

This is amazing news! I am so excited for you! Things always work out in ways you least expect them. Great!

Here's hoping for a quick sale of the townhouse! You have it looking quite nice, so that should be no problem.

Have a blessed Sunday.

Wow, that is wonderful news! I like that area, and know that you do as well. How nice (other than a lying realtor, but you can't everything). I hope your place sells. You will adapt quickly to life in a new place and make friends there as well. Have fun!

It's beautiful! I think you will really enjoy country living. There are disadvantages like every thing else but the privacy, peace and quite are so worth it.

Ok, I am trying VERY HARD to be happy about this, but it is sad news for me. Unless you plan on riding down each Tuesday morning for our knitting group it means we won't see much of you. Boo Hoo.

The house looks just lovely and you most certainly deserve such a wonderful place and so close to where you both love to be. It makes perfect sense. Oh, well, That will make keeping up with your blog just that more important.

Actually after I mulled about this news I realized that it was to be expected ... that you seem to find yourself moving alot in the past. And this place doesn't have all the stairs that your townhouse has, so that will be important as you get a bit older.

You will miss the lake I am sure, but the area you are moving to is just beautiful. It will make your walks all that much more interesting.

I'll be happy for you soon, I promise.

Really, I should have seen it coming because I knew how much you
both like it up there. I'm glad you are experiencing God's favor as you seek His direction in all you do. MJ

I'm so happy for you! Everything happens for a reason, this IS YOUR HOUSE! We live in a small three bedroom ranch (looks to be maybe the same size), we love it, easy to keep up and clean. You are lucky to have the peace of the country there with you. I'm excited for you both, best wishes and congrats!

This house looks so lovely Happy One and it has a good sized piece of land around it which I'm sure you'll put to good use!
I love all the trees.
We're in a townhouse that's two storeyed and since my husband had a back operation he would just love a one story house again!! This would suit us perfectly!

You will miss your walks around the lake but you'll find other interesting walks there I'm sure.
