Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Empty and lived in

20 degrees this morning, sunny with a slight breeze.  I walked around the lake once again.
Very few people out and not much wildlife either but it was beautiful out by the lake.
Here some mallards swim away from me as I walked down by the water to take their picture.
As I was leaving the lake I turned around to get one last look at the lake and snapped this picture.  I take a lot of pictures of this tree but I just love how it looks along the path and seeing the lake up ahead.  It's one of my favorite scenes.
Today on my walk I took 12,899 steps.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After eating breakfast and doing a few chores around the house, Ken and I left to do some errands.  It still felt a bit strange doing errands with him during the day in the middle of the week.  : )  While we were out we stopped at McDonald's and had a bite to eat.  We ate in the truck and the French fries that we didn't eat we threw out the window for the sea gulls to eat.  Seconds later there were so many around that we were afraid to open the windows again for fear they would fly right in the truck!  Never without my camera I took a few picture of them.
The closing on the sale of the Savage house is tomorrow afternoon and everything is set and all should go smoothly.
Ken took a picture of the empty house yesterday.  When he got home he found another picture from when we lived there taken from just about the same spot.
Now someone else will fill it with their things and no longer will it be our house.  I'm not sad.  To me it is just a building and my home is wherever I'm living at the time.  I probably feel that way because we have moved so many times.  I've loved all our homes and have been happy in all of them while I lived there. : )
I hope to finish the book I'm reading this afternoon and knit a little more on the blue scarf.
Till next time......
A happy day to you.
Hi Karen, I know you are glad to finally sell the other house. I have moved alot through the years also ---so I understand not having 'ties' with a house... However, the house I lived in all through my childhood was sold many years ago --and the people in it now have renovated it so much that I don't even recognize it... That is one thing which makes me sad --since I was more attached to that house.
Great photos today.
Hugs,
Betsy
You seem to have the ability to make your houses true homes for you and Ken!
Love the before and after pictures of the house in Savage. Hope settlement goes smoothly.
You caught the seagulls in the act! What are they doing here anyway? We're not Ocean City!
Today's pictures from the lake are beautiful. MJ
I really like your photo of the ducks swimming away and leaving a little ripple in the water as they go. So peaceful.
Hooray for the closing on your house.
That's funny about the seagulls. I'm sure they were thrilled to receive your french fries.
Look at all those shelves for books - that's a very practical space. Hope you love your new home too.
Like you we have moved A LOT so while I have lived in some nice houses in great places, I'm always happy to move on to the next adventure. Looks like you had your old house fixed up very bright and cheerfully when you lived there. Enjoy the rest of your day!
I think yours is a healthy outlook on former homes. I have felt great sadness leaving one of my former homes. I even kissed the furnace goodbye. Those are great pictures and, you know what, the life of the house is with the people who live there. An empty house is just that...empty. Soon it'll be happy again with people moving in!
Hope that doing errands with Ken mid-week starts growing on ya! (We have the same situation when we eat at BK or McD...is that true all across the nation? LOL
Well I have not lived in a lot of places and as a result I get attached to the places that I have lived.
In fact, we have lived in this current town house for 28 years this coming July. I have never lived anywhere so long. When we finally leave I will be in tears I am sure. When you spend that much time in one place so much of your life has been experienced there - some touching, some joyful, some painful! And in my case my house has shelter many of my family members. So it will be very very hard for me to leave.
But nothing is forever and we will leave here at some point. I try not to think about it.
Plus you love your current home and your mountain land. So someone else can enjoy and love your previous home.
