Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A new apple

It was 28 degrees this morning and when I stepped out the door it started snowing.  It came down in huge flakes and before long the sidewalks were covered in snow and so was I.  It was windy too so my face was wet and cold.  It was hard to see where I was going. I made it over to the lake and with the snow covering the paths I couldn't tell where the icy spots were.  I slipped a few times and then thought I'd better head back home.  By the time I got back I was damp and chilly.
I didn't see anyone else out and there were no other footprints but mine.  All the animals were somewhere keeping out of the snow too.
My walk today ended with only 6,759 steps.

I added up the coins I found for the month of January.  Not that good a month, but I've had worse.
2 dimes, 3 nickels and 8 pennies for a total of 43 cents.

Ken has put up with me and my blog since I started.  He has had to listen to me talk about it, has stopped the car so I could take pictures , and has had to wait to start eating so I could take pictures of his food.  He has now decided to start a blog of his own about his retirement.  Please take a moment to stop by and say hi to him and tell him I sent you. : )  Ken's Blog.

We spent the morning doing this and that on our own and then after lunch we headed to the mall which is only 2 miles away.  By that time the snow was gone and the sun was out but it was still in the 20's and very windy.
A while ago I had mentioned that my computer was doing some weird things and that I thought I'd be getting a new one soon.  Well, today was the day I got my new computer.  We went to the Apple store, bought it and came home and since it's an Apple it just got plugged in and was ready to go.
Connected the old and the new and now it's transferring all the stuff from the old computer to the new one. It will take hours to complete so I'm writing this post on my laptop.

I put away the January bookmark I got from my friend Mary Jo and am now using the February one.
This first day of Ken's retirement has been nice but I don't think it has sunk in yet.  It just feels like a day off. I think when Monday rolls around and he doesn't have to get up and go to work is when it will hit us. : )

I'm off to visit some blogs now.
Hope all is well with you.
Till next time......
A happy day to you.

Visited Ken and was very happy to wish him well on his retirement for myself. Thanks for the link. ;D

It's going to feel like one day off after another. I would like to say that living with someone who once said he was retired and now definitely isn't that I liked things a lot better when he was. This is meant to encourage.

Happy Retirement to Ken. Harry retired last year and he is enjoying it.

Just love the Apple computers. I now have one at work and I really like it after having a PC. It is really nice and has a 27 inch monitor!! Good luck with your new one.

You will enjoy being together all day...just like Charly and I do! We both became teachers so we could hang out together all summer long! Will look in on Ken's blog. My husband has a blog too. He started his because I was always talking about mine, just like you and Ken, but my husband's blog is is all about the stock market and investing. You and Ken enjoy your new life together!

How exciting that you have a new computer! I was forced to buy this new one almost three weeks ago when my 10-yr. old Apple laptop crashed totally! Finances dictated a HP replacement, and it is a real adjustment for me. Can't tell if I'm making progress or not.

Take it easy out on that icy surface when you are walking!

Just went over to congratulate Ken on his retirement. How fun that he has started his own blog.
Believe it or not I have never used an apple computer. Both of my sons swear by them.
Very pretty bookmark for the new month.

Whoooo-Hooooo... That's my iMac there, Girlie!!! :-))))))))))) Super, super dooper. But you know that a Apple is wonnnnnderful, already. :-)

Slipped, and went home. Wise!

A blog. Good for Ken! Hope he can connect with others, who are recently retired. It's fun to have comments, because they are feed back.

But of course, they don't come at once.... :-)

Hey! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering if
you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for my comment form?
I'm using the same blog platform as yours and I'm having trouble finding one?
