Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Ready for painting

I started out this new year day like most days with a morning walk. : )  It was 37 degrees with a slight breeze.  Never did see the sun rise - too many clouds.
A very quiet morning.  Saw two runners and a bike rider and only a handful of cars.
I stayed along the sidewalk and walked to the end of Gray Rock and back.
I didn't even see any deer, just the birds were up.
A nice walk and the only way for me to start the new year!! : )
My steps on this walk were 12,459.

We finished the second puzzle last night.

I finished reading The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton.  It is her latest book and is just as good as the other three.  Lots of turns and the ending was a surprise.  I thought the book was excellent.
I finished it just a little while ago but I'm counting it as the last book I read in 2012.  It was number 41 for the year.  Not a great number but still a fair amount of books for the year.  I didn't give myself a goal for the year and just read books I enjoyed with no pressure to read a certain amount.

I cleaned out the closet in my future office and emptied out the room except for a tall narrow chest of draws and a small table which I have moved to the middle of the room.  I plan on putting the computer desk along the left wall.  The light from the window which is at the back of the house will make it nice and bright by my computer.
This it the other window which is on the side of the house.  I am going to put an old oak secretaries desk ( I think that's what it's called)  on this wall.
Well they are the before pictures.  I'll be sure to post some during and after pictures as well.
I plan on doing the painting on Thursday.

This first day of the new year as been a cloudy somewhat dreary day but I've enjoyed it anyway. : )

Hope you enjoyed this first day of the new year.

Betsy - our townhouse really isn't all that big, it just has a lot of levels and is a perfect fit for us.  The first level has a two car garage with a small room which is Kenny's office. Second level has kitchen and living room and a half bath.  Third level has our bedroom which is a good size and a bathroom.  My loft is off the bedroom.  Down the hall is a small bathroom, and two little bedrooms - one of which will be my office.  The other room has a piece of gym equipment in it which takes up the whole room.  It is Ken's.  I HATE exercising on machines!!! : )
There is no way we could share an office!   I like things neat and tidy and I'll just say that Ken doesn't care. : )

I tried to leave a comment earlier from the iPad. Right. That didn't fly. I didn't think so. ☺

You've had a productive New Year's Day. You don't believe in holidays? Ha! I finally put the grand's bed away and then I have followed very quiet pursuits. You'll have that room together in no time flat. I'm experiencing a certain amount of chagrin here as well I should!

Love your diplomacy...

I'll have to put that book on my list to read this year. I never count how many I read, but I'm sure you beat me by a mile :).
How fun to have a new project to start the new year. I look forward to seeing it when it's all done.
Your explanation for why you and Ken couldn't share an office made me smile.
Happy New Year.

Color of the new paint?

Fun project!

Thank you for the book suggestion. I put such down in my "Library Notebook." ,-) One can never have too many possibilities for titles of books to read!!! :-)
