Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cleaning out a few drawers

It was 11 degrees warmer than yesterday morning at 28 degrees.  A bit of a breeze at times so it really didn't feel any warmer, but my toes didn't get cold!  Once the sun rose it was sunny for a little while and then it got cloudy.
I walked around the lake but took a few detours off the main paved path and walked on a couple of short trails.
Here I'm looking through the trees at the red footbridge I would be walking on if I stayed on the path.
I like looking up at the sky through the bare tree branches.  I think looks so pretty.  A bonus is the morning moon.  It is pretty well hidden up there but it is down and a bit to the right of the center of the picture and is just a speck.
There were about a dozen people out around the lake.  I was just thinking that I haven't seen Barb for a while and then there she was coming around the curve.  She's still been walking, we just haven't run into each other.
Another walking friend I haven't seen in months is Jeannie and I saw her today too.  She doesn't usually walk in the dark and many mornings walks in the mall when it's cold.  It was good to see her again.

Once again the deer and other wildlife were hiding and I didn't see a one.  There were the geese though.  There is a light coating of ice on parts of the lake and the geese were sitting in the water where they could.  Some were also standing on the ice.  It makes me cold to think of them in that freezing cold water.

I found my first coin of the year.  Only a penny but it's a start!
Steps on my walk were 13,015.

I didn't get the computer desk into my office yesterday.  Ken came home late from work and by the time we had supper we didn't feel like doing it.
So today I went through the desk drawers in the kitchen and threw a lot of junk away, brought some things upstairs to my office, other things up to the loft, and organized what was left downstairs.
Cleaning out drawers always takes me so long because I have to read and look at everything and I get easily sidetracked.  I got four drawers cleaned out and when I was done, had one empty drawer!!  It will be a good place to keep recipes I haven't tried yet, believe me I have a stack of them!!!

After lunch I went up into the loft and tried to get some things sorted out up there.  Didn't get very far though because I'm just moving things from one place to another and can't really find a place I want things to be until I get the computer desk out of the way and all the furniture is where it should be. Then everything can settle down to their new places.

We are going out for supper tonight and I'm hoping afterwards to pick out some curtains for the office.

The wind finally blew the most of the clouds away and we ended up with a mostly sunny day.  Cold but at least sunny.

A happy Friday to you.
Happyone : )
Today's quote came from the Daily Bread and it sure is true for me and is why I'm Happyone.
The one who puts God first
will have happiness that lasts.

Thanks to all of you for those kind words you left in comments yesterday. : )

Papers...desk drawers...I'd rather go get a tooth drilled. Bet you felt a real sense of accomplishment after cleaning out four of them. Nice bonus to have an empty drawer at the end.

A pleasant surprise to see two of your walking friends on the same day.
It must be a good feeling to have the desk drawers cleaned out. I have a few that could stand a cleaning.
Have a great weekend.

We had a very cold morning --about 18 degrees. Even though it was sunny, it stayed cold all day long. When I was outside putting away Christmas decorations, my hands were so cold. It wasn't the type of work I could do with gloves on ---so I had to take a few breaks to come inside to get warm.

Your new office is going to be great. Can't wait to see the final look when you get it the way you want it.

Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

I have been cleaning and organizing all day today too...it is a big job, but it feels so good to have it done! Have a great weekend! (P.S. my best friend here in Arizona read my blog post about my new Striiv and today she called and told me that she was so impressed she has ordered one too!)

It takes me forever to go through drawers and clear out stuff too. I am not exactly a packrat nor do I like to just get rid of stuff.

I love all photos, showing winter's bare branches... Especially with a tiny moon, tucked in there, too. :-)

The description of the geese sitting on the light icy parts of the lake gave me a beautiful mental image.
