Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A day in the kitchen

We got a little dusting of snow last night so I got to take my walk in a wonderland this morning.  It was 13 degrees and when the sun came up it and stayed out.

I saw footprints along the way but only encountered two people out around the lake.  One of course was Barb. : )  We stopped to chat for a bit saying how great it was to be up and outside on such a beautiful morning walking around our lake.  We both had lots of layers on and were getting warm.

I only saw one deer but saw tracks of other animals that were around.  Rabbits, deer, squirrels, I think a fox, and even birds.

I took a bunch of pictures along the way and here are just a sampling.  Walk along with me.

Rabbit tracks beside the footprints.
I'm almost back home here and these are my footprints from earlier.
My walk today was 13,124 steps.

I had some nice hot Cream of Wheat with syrup and added some raisins for breakfast and then just stayed in the kitchen.

I got some Smashed Potato soup going in the slow cooker.

I tried a new bread in the bread machine called Italian Herb and it is delicious.  It will go good tonight with the soup.

Also baked a batch of Chocolate Chippers.  I usually just put the regular semi sweet chips in them but I picked up a package of special dark chocolate chips to try in the cookies because Ken really likes the dark chocolate.

I ended up not eating lunch because I tried the bread when it was done with some butter and also ate two cookies.  So I guess that was my lunch.

While I was in the kitchen every so often I'd take a look at the puzzles and stick a piece or two in place.
One is just about done, one is getting near the end and one is barely started.

While I was in the kitchen I also cleared off the hutch, dusted it and then put away the china that was on it and put some of my Fiestaware pieces out.  Just needed a change.
It's another cold day and even though the sun is out it's pretty windy out there.  It was a good day for being in the kitchen with the oven on.

Hope your day has been a good one.
Till next time........
Have a happy day.

That handsome hutch sets off those Fiestaware dishes beautifully. Love that look. I wonder if, when you get all three puzzles together, which one you'll like the best. (I also wonder if it will be the one nearest completion.) Cold day for walking, Karen. I doff my cap to you!

Your pictures look like a winter wonderland. I was almost influenced by you to buy a jigsaw puzzle this afternoon, but resisted the impulse. I Ihave too much going on just now. The Fiestaware is cheerful in your hutch. One of our daughters has that china for everyday. An ice storm is predicted here for overnight. Local schools have already announced their closures.

The Fiesta ware really brightens up your hutch and the kitchen! How pretty in the iddle of winter! I am going to look online for a recipe for "Smashed Potato Soup" Sounds like something I would enjoy. Stay warm. We dipped down into the low 70s today and had rain.

The snow pictures of your walk reminds me of how much I like to walk the dog when it is snowing. The fiestaware looks great in your hutch.

I enjoyed walking along with you in the winter wonderland. Now I'm wondering if that walk burned any calories?
Your kitchen must have smelled delightful with all of those yummy things you were cooking and baking.
Those puzzles are adorable. I love the homey scenes. I would find it very hard to take them apart when they were done.
Your hutch looks great. A very welcome pop of color at this time of year.
