Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cleaning day

A little warmer this morning at 35 degrees, but it was cloudy and really didn't feel much warmer than yesterday.  Still I was nice and warm in my layers.  I walked one of my connect the path routes but went in the opposite direction than usual.  Seems like a completely different walk.

I came across four deer and they didn't even run away as I walked by.  Just looked up from eating, looked at me and then went back to eating.  I said good morning to them as I walked by.

I encountered four other people out along the paths.  I often wonder of all the people who live along these paths how many have never walked along them.  I remember one time when I first moved here and didn't know exactly where I was, I asked someone who was working in their yard where the path came out.  He said, "I don't know, never walked it."

Just before coming home, I walked up to the liquor store to see if there were any coins in the parking lot.  I was rewarded with a lucky penny. : )

I walked 6.4 miles.

I stayed home today and got started in on cleaning right after breakfast.  It's been cloudy all day so a good day for cleaning.  I got a lot done and not just surface cleaning.  I pulled cushions off the furniture and vacuumed them, removed the books from the shelves so I could dust the shelves better and dusted baseboards.  Cleaned the bathrooms and did load of laundry.
I didn't have time to do a thorough job of the kitchen so I will save that for tomorrow.  I also didn't do my loft but that will take a complete day because once again I have made quite a mess up there!!  It is out of the way and I'm the only one who goes up there so I have a tendency to just leave things as they are.  One nice reason to have a place all my own.

I feel good that I got a lot done but now I'm ready to sit down and relax and do a little reading.  I'm reading V is for Vengeance  by Sue Grafton.  I've read all of her other  alphabet books.  I don't even know if she wrote any other books but them.

Hope you found reasons to be happy today.

My wife likes those books, too.

this is the kind of weather when the core of your body is too warm, and your ears, nose, face, and hands are too cold. No comfortable middle ground.

I can't believe that someone could live near so many nice paths and not know them intimately.

Gosh what a busy day you've had - but very rewarding I'm sure. How great that you get a room all to yourself and in a part of the house where you can leave all your bits and pieces spread out! Enjoy your read.

Sounds like a very productive day. That's always a good feeling and nice to reward yourself afterwards.
I have seen her books, but never read them.

Looks like you got enough work done for both of us today. Good thing too because I didn't get much done. You've done well on collecting coins this month.

Cloudy overcast days are the best days to clean! You have inspired me with pulling books off shelves and vacuming cushions! I haven't ever read a book by Sue Grafton but have seen them around so I will give one a try someday soon! I so agree with your quote for the day. I will be walking later this afternoon after picking my son up at school! Enjoy your evening.

I'm quite impressed with your thorough cleaning! It must feel good to have that accomplished!

This day has been a very good one for us here!

I've read all of her books (not V Yet) too.
I thought her last few weren't as good as the firsts.... I guess it's hard to keep them going. Let me know what you think of V :)

You know, I don't think about reasons to be happy...I truly don't. It must be similar to a gratitude list, which I do think of every now and then. Anyway, I'm thinking that you and I have another connection with your neighbor who never walked the path and my character who never saw the view.

I was cleaning yesterday, but it was more of a pull furniture away from the wall to vacuum under kind of day.

Lovely photo. The end of Autumn can be pretty too. Even after all the *flashy-ness* is gone. :-)

Oh yes, a place of one's own, where we can leave a mess, and no one will see it!!!!! Super! :-)
