Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Cheese Cake

Up and out walking in the dark again.  Temperature was 38 and I walked my Circles Route.  A little after 7:00 the sky gets a glow to it and I can actually see where I'm walking.  This route keeps me on the sidewalks for some miles and the street lights help light the way for me.
The clouds in the sky got a pretty pink color to them for a few minutes at sunrise but I couldn't get to where I could take a good picture of them.  It didn't last for long and when the color went away the clouds got thicker and about a mile from home I started feeling some rain drops.  Just a bit of a sprinkle so I didn't get wet.

A few people were scattered about here and there but it was a pretty quite morning.

I saw quite a few deer, though they are harder to see now that they blend in so well with everything brown.  You can hardly see these two of them watching me walk by.
I walked 6.6 miles.
Got lucky today and found a quarter - a good start for this month!

Ken took the day off from work because we had planned on going up to Happy Trails last night but with there still being 2 feet of snow we have decided to stay home. Yesterday it was still snowing on and off there!!

This morning we went out and flitted about doing a few errands and then stopped at Joe's Cafe and had sandwiches for lunch.  Ken goes there frequently when he's at work because it's right across the street.  Joe's is only open for breakfast and lunch during the week so we don't get to there often together.  They make great sandwiches.

This afternoon I made a cheese cake.  In fact it's baking right now as I type this.  Tomorrow is Ken's birthday and I've make him this cheesecake every year for as long as I remember.  Here it is in the pan already to go in the oven.  It is very light and creamy and I LOVE to lick the bowl!!!
It is easy to make and the secret to it being high and fluffy I think is the beaten egg whites that get folded into it.
If you'd like the recipe you can find it HERE.

We have been seeing a little bit of sun today - not much mind you but every now and then it peeks out from behind the clouds.

Hope your Friday is a happy one.
Happyone : )
Slow down and enjoy life.
It's not only the scenery you miss by going too fast,
you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.

There it is again. That peek of sunlight being able to make the sky pretty, just at sun rise.

Happy Birthday to Ken!

I'm not a cheese cake lover, so I am not *lusting* over his cake. ,-)

I adore cheesecake and so I am wondering what makes this one so special. It truly does have more than the usual ingredients...I've never seen sour cream in a cheesecake recipe before. It sounds as if it might be lighter somehow. I don't know when, but I am going to have to try this recipe one day. And I thought that I would be trying Susan Branch's pumpkin cheesecake recipe on her calendar for November. Nope, yours will win out.
