Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A walk, a little work and home again

55 degrees again this morning when I went for my walk into town.  Cloudy too but this time the clouds DID NOT make way for the sun.  It was  dreary and a little misty at times, though not enough to get me wet.  Still it was a nice walk around town.  Stopped on the way into town to take a picture of these few cows down below there getting a drink in the little stream.  I said good morning to them and then continued on.
Walked my usual town route.  I saw about a dozen wild turkeys and a few deer here and there too.
Walked up by the Drane House again which is believed to be the oldest structure in Garret County.
Ken picked me up in town again after I'd walk 6 miles.

Didn't do any more work on the tractor barn today.  We spent the morning cutting down some little trees and worked on getting some more land cleared down in front of the trailer.

We got things put away and left for home about 12:30.  Stopped in Cumberland and had lunch there and then made for home.
Just a couple little rain showers while driving but nothing to speak of.

It's always nice to get back home.  Our townhouse seems huge after being in the little trailer. : )

Hope your Saturday has been a good one.

Walking is the exercise that needs no gym.
It is the prescription without medicine,
the weight control without diet,
the cosmetic that is sold in no drugstore.
It is the tranquilizer without a pill,
the therapy without a psychoanalyst,
the fountain of youth that is no legend.
A walk is the vacation that does not cost a cent.

I like the Aaron Sussman quote; very true!

I hope you are not in any danger from the hurricane. Stay safe!

Now that is a great quote! I think it could become your signature quote.

The Drane house looks so historical and charming. Have you discussed this before and I missed it? I'll have to do a search here in a second.

Sounds as if you two got a lot accomplished!

I Love your quote today - isn't it great being a walker!
An interesting path you followed today - there seems to always be plenty for you to see!
I often walk through a park near me run as a farm with cattle and sheep, it's wonderful in Spring seeing the little calves and lambs too!

As long as the cows don't say good morning back, you're OK! ;^)

I am glad that you enjoyed your day. It was a good one here too: I walked in Light the Night last night, which is always inspirational - and the rain held off. I was in particular honoring two friends who have died of blood cancers in the past two years.

You know, wild turkeys have been something I've been hoping to see on recent hikes, but I haven't.

I love the poem about walking!

Sounds like a wonderful day. I love the look of Drane House, is it in use today?
I love to walk but with homeschooling I don't have many opportunities for long walks. Sometimes we all go for a half our walk over the town bridge and back - always pleasant.
