Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Back up to the country today

Late yesterday afternoon it got pretty windy, dark and the clouds rolled in.  I took this picture looking straight up out on the back deck.
Thunder rumbled off in the distance but it never did rain and eventually the clouds just blew away.  A different story just 14 miles away where Ken works.  They had a bad thunderstorm and Ken stayed at work just a little longer until the storm passed.
We had those grilled cheese sandwiches for supper and added a piece of grilled bologna to them.  Yummy!

This morning I once again headed out over to the lake for my walk.  It was another hot sticky morning.
I walk down this sidewalk each morning when I start out.  When I get to the end of the street, left takes me to the lake, and right takes me to my connect the path route.  If I'm going right, I cross the street by that cross walk you can barely see just up ahead.
Lots of people again around the lake and I stopped to talk a few times to people I know.  I met the drill sergeant this morning.  Her name is Kathy and she is actually quite nice to talk to but I still wouldn't want her to be my exercise trainer. : )

The rabbits were out all over the place and this little one was so intent on eating that he let me get pretty close to take his picture.  He is pretty little and a real cutie.
It was mostly sunny when I left and the clouds were rolling in again as I got home.
I walked 6.2 miles.
I'm really liking my Striiv pedometer and so glad that I bought it. : )

I'm just puttering around the house today and getting things ready to take up to the country.  You're right Vee, we must give that place a name!  We plan to leave late this afternoon after Ken gets home from work again like we did last week and then have a full day of work on Friday.  So glad that the upper roof is done so we can move along faster with the tractor barn.  Looking forward to some more good walks up that way too.

I made a batch of Chocolate Chippers to take up to the country to give to Ron our neighbor who has been so nice to us.  Just a thank you too for the blueberries he lets me pick.  And who knows maybe I'll meet the mysterious wife this time!  : )

I'm off now to give my little front garden a good soaking now that it is in the shade.  Things are blooming nicely there and unless it rains it will have to go a couple of days without water.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.
A happy day to you.

Chocolate chippers, I bet you will be allowed to pick more blueberries.

Still no rain here and none in sight.

I am loving my Strivv, too. thanks for the info about checking my stride. I am working at donating water now. Can't get my head around building my island, but I love it when the animals wave at me! Enjoy your week---end.

Your first comment brought that old song to mind ♫ Going to the country don't you want to go? ♫ It was from the hippy days I think. It's got a perky beat just like you!

Have fun and hope that you get some projects accomplished.

I would let you pick my blueberries if you gave me Chocolate Chippers.:)
It sounds like you will have a busy week-end at your land. I hope you are able to accomplish your goals.

A name for your 2nd home would be good..... It is SO special and you two will love it FOREVER.... I remember when you bought the land... Look how far you have come since then!!!!

Getting dry again here also again--even though we had rain last week.... We still need more.

Hugs,
Betsy

STOP THE PRESSES! I have not read the whole post yet! Just got to where you agreed with Vee, that you have to give your country place a NAME.

I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING! When I read 'going to the country' again!!!! I did, I did, I did, I did. -gigggles-

Sooooooooooo... The countdown is on. For you to choosing a name for your "country place." :-)))))

Now to read the rest of your post! And hope you have a great weekend~

I'm going to have to try your cookie recipe soon.
I'll be watching to see what you decide to name your country home!
Have a great weekend,
Jeanne

I agree with all of the others ... you will have no shortage of blueberries when you show up with those cookies.
The bunny is so sweet. I haven't seen very many this summer around here, which is a mixed blessing :).
Hope you are enjoying your time in the country.
