Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Another hot one

I think this morning was the hottest day of all with a temperature of 78 and already very humid at 6:10 in the morning.  I left a wee bit earlier than usual and walked around the lake.  LOTS of people out around the lake again before it gets unbearably hot to exercise.
The only things that seemed cool were the geese out on the lake.  Birds were twittering away and I saw a couple of rabbits but that's it for the wildlife this morning.
I don't usually drip sweat but this morning sweat was dripping down my arms.  Once again I had to peel my clothes off when I got home.  I am so thankful that I have AC at home and a refrigerator where ice cold water awaits me.  : )

I walked 6.1 miles.
Sunrise 5:56
Sunset 8:31

My pantry had lots of empty spaces in it so I went off to the commissary today so I could fill them up again. There was hardly anyone there so of course no lines to wait on and I was in and out in good time.
Then home for lunch and I got a loaf of bread going in the bread machine.  It's nice to be able to have nice home baked bread without having to use the oven and heat the house up!
I'm thinking something simple for supper tonight - like grilled cheese sandwiches.   I think they taste especially good on the home baked bread.

I never did get to read yesterday afternoon so I'm going to make a point to make some time today to read.

Hope if it is hot where you are that you are keeping cool. It is 100 again here today, but tomorrow we are supposed to be getting some relief.

A happy day to you.

Grilled cheese on homemade bread sounds wonderful!!

It is so hot here too. My weather radio just blasted the room which scared me half out of my wits. There is a severe thunderstorm watch until 8PM for one county over from here.

Wow, grilled cheese on homebaked bread does sound good. I may get out my bread machine today too....usually I only use it in the cooler months. I love that you walk so much. You keep me inspired. Walking is a great way to stay healthy. You mentioned going to the commissary...I am wondering what your branch of the service is. My daughter is in the Navy and my husband worked as a civilian accountant for the Air Force for many years. Have a great day.

Cheese toasties are a favourite of mine. A wish a little of your heat would makes its way across here as it has been quite cool today - in fact I am wondering whether to put the heating on for a while as I am feeling quite chilly sat at the computer!

We're having something easy and cool tonight as well...the BLT salad that Cheryl at Thinking About Home first had on her Salad Tuesdays. I can't wait to give it a try.

Do you lose a lot of weight on these mornings when it's so hot?

We have been a bit cooler here, probably due to the showers that seem to come through just about every afternoon.

We never replaced our bread machine, but the aroma of bread baking is very homey.:) Grilled cheese sounds so good!
