Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A beautiful blue sky

Ah, what a pleasure it was to go walking this morning.  The temperature was only 63 degrees with very low humidity and look at this bright blue sky.  Didn't have to stand in the sprinklers today. : )
I walked around the lake once again.  I mentioned to Ken about most of the geese being gone from around the lake.  His comment was that they must have all flown to the parking lot where he works because there must have been 200 of them there yesterday. : )
This is part of the path I walk on around the lake.  I take the path to the right up ahead which takes me around the upper part and away from the lake for a bit and gives me an extra half mile around the lake.
Walking on the path on the way home behind the church I saw a woman I usually see around the lake.  We always say hi and good morning.  When I saw that she was coming from the direction of my house I asked her if she lived up my way.  No, she didn't and was just seeing where this path lead to.  We talked a bit more and I learned that her name was Donna. And so I meet another walking friend. : )
I walked 6.2 miles.

Late yesterday afternoon we got a call from our son David.  He had been in Baltimore taking care of some business and while his car was parked, someone smashed the passenger side window, reached in and stole his GPS.  This was in broad daylight in a residential neighborhood.  We only live 25 minutes or so from there so he came over here.  There was shattered glass still stuck in the track and all over the seat and floor and we vacuumed it all out. Ken and David made a temporary window of Plexiglas that we had laying around here so he could drive back home.  They taped the Plexiglas in with good old duck tape but the only color we had was this bright yellow but it was  good enough to hold it in place.
Figures the ONE time he left the GPS in the car that someone would steal it.  He has learned a lesson here.  NEVER leave valuables in sight!!!
The good in all this was that he also had his laptop in the back seat and some other stuff but none of that was taken.  Things could have been much worse.  They could have stolen the whole car!!!
David ended up spending the night here with us and this morning he made some calls and is having the window replaced later today.  He left for home back to NJ after we had breakfast together.

I did a couple of loads of laundry.  The day was too nice to pass up hanging the clothes out on the lines.
Just been home doing more of this and that.  Not sure what I'm going to do this afternoon but whatever it is, it will be done outside on the deck.  Have to take advantage of this beautiful low humidity day because it is only here for one day.

Hope your day is filled with sunshine.

Oh that's too bad about your son's car window and the stolen GPS. People are more and more bold with the passing of time. Theft is very high even in our corner.

Oh this glorious weather. Is this not the perfect day of summer? So glad that you are enjoying it, too.

That's a shame. It's the thought that someone has deliberatley caused damage and taken something that doesn't belong to them. It was very lucky that the laptop and other things didn't get taken. Good too that you were close enough to help him. PS Linas has suggested they were 'lost' and in need of the GPS.

It is too bad about your son's GPS and you are right, it could have been much worse.

I really like the quote!

That is a shame about David's GPS. We hear about this type of thing often on the news around here. So hard to believe that they do this in broad daylight.
That blue sky is a lovely sight. I would LOVE a break in our humidity, but probably won't see it until September.
To answer your question about my paint choice, I didn't pick any of the first 3 greens. Check out my previous post to see what happened.

Enjoy the remainder of your nice summer day.

Sorry to hear about David's car... But--as you said, he was lucky just to have lost his GPS... We always stick ours in the glove compartment when we park and leave the car out somewhere... As you said, hopefully he has learned his lesson.. BUT--be that as it may, it is sad when things like this happen.
Hugs,
Betsy

So sorry about the break-in, to your son's car. Broad daylight and a residential neighborhood!

Guess it's another sign of the times and the awful state of the economy.

But oh no, never leave valuables in sight, in a car!!!!!!!!!! Even in a good economy.

It's such a shame that people have to resort to stealing and how fortunate he didn't lose more - it would be a lovely bonus to have him spend the night with you. I hope he managed to get his vehicle repaired and arrived home safely.

Last year our car was "broken into" right in our parking lot. We were part of a rash of break ins over several months. We keep nothing in sight in the care and nothing of value either. But that one night we left the car unlocked.
