Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A day to enjoy

A little chilly outside this morning at 21 degrees.  There was a very heavy frost which made things look very pretty.
I walked around the lake.  There was no breeze at all and the water was like glass.
By the time I was on the other side of the lake the sun had come out and warmed things up a bit.
Only a few people out around the lake and they were all regulars.  Birds were hopping about and a few geese where here and there.  Really pretty quiet!
I passed up the road home and made a loop around one of the paths.  Wanted to make up a little for not walking yesterday.

Found the first two coins for the month - only pennies but the month has just started.
I walked 7.8 miles.

I was planning on staying home today and just doing some things around the house but while I was walking Cheryl called and we made plans to have lunch together.
Cheryl came over the house around 11:30 and we talked for a bit and then went to the  mall down the street from me and had lunch at the cafe in Nordstroms.  I hardly ever go to the mall and didn't even know that Nordsroms had a cafe in it!  We both had grilled sandwiches which were very good.

Both of us aren't shoppers but we walked around the mall mostly window shopping.
Cheryl introduced me to a small store called Brighton which has mostly jewelery, but also purses, wallets and little gift items as well.   I thought these little ladybug earrings were so cute that I just had to buy them.  No ordinary bags here, they put my purchase in this cute little cloth drawstring bag.
Leaving the mall our next stop was the new library which is near my house too.  Cheryl hadn't been there yet so we went to check it out.  Of course being in the library I couldn't help myself and checked out a book.  Only one though! : )
Then it was time to head back home.  Cheryl dropped me off and went back home.  It was nice spending time with Cheryl, when she didn't have to do my hair!! : )
Our friendship is one of the bonuses of blogging!

Before Cheryl got to my house, I had started a loaf of bread in the bread machine.  I got the recipe, Sweet Brown Bread, from Vee on her blog.
When I got back home and walked in the house a delicious smell wafted out to me.  Yes, the bread was done.  I couldn't wait for it to cool completely and cut myself a slice, buttered it and ate it.  It tasted as good as it smelled.  Thanks Vee! : )
One more thing.  The other day Ken and had ran out of ice cream and went to buy more.  It was on sale for $2.50 so we stocked up.  Look at all this ice cream.  It should last us quite a while!!  Notice I got 2 Whoopie Pies!!
That's it for today.
Hope all is well in your part of the world.
Till next time.......
A smile from me to you.

There are joys which long to be ours.
God sends ten thousands truths,
which come about us like birds seeking inlet;
but we are shut up to them,
and so they bring us nothing,
but sit and sing awhile upon the roof,
and then fly away.

I don't know which to be more excited over...the whoopie pie ice cream or that beautiful bread. Yours really did come out just plain pretty. I wonder why mine is always lumpy, bumpy, and dumpy? Did you really think it is good or are you just saying that? You can tell me the truth. I'm not one bit invested in it. =D

Oh my, that ice cream and home made bread - looks good enough to walk 6 miles for! Two of my biggest temptations! The Colombian coffee would probably be my fav!

Sounds like a wonderful day, Karen. That frost was thick and looked like snow...

Glad you had a good lunch and fellowship time with your friend, Cheryl.

Wow---that bread looks delicious and I'm sure it smelled so good. Our sour dough smells good also..

Great buy on ice cream.
Hugs,
Betsy

Sounds like a really nice day and fun that you and Cheryl introduced each other to new things.
Your new earrings are really cute. I love the Brighton store. I haven't bought anything there in a while, but when I did everything came in a heart shaped tin. I now keep my safety pins in them.
I am planning to give Vee's bread a try in the near future. It looks yummy.
How fun to open your freezer and have so many ice cream choices.

The earrings are gorgeous and so is the bag - what a bonus! I love outings with girlfriends. What a healthy looking loaf I would love a bite of the crust and the ice cream - what a variety.
