Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A trail through the woods

Giving Thanks Challenge Day Number 26
I am Thankful for Comfortable Walking Shoes.
With all the walking i do i need shoes that fit well
and are comfortable.
My feet are very thankful.

It was 30 degrees when i walked this morning but there was no wind and this is what i got to look at when i started.  I'm sure it is God's way of saying Good Morning to me! : )
I walked along paths and sidewalks in the neighborhoods on no particular route.  Walking down a path i travel frequently i saw a trail go off into the woods.  I've seen it before but it wasn't defined like it is here.
So this time i followed it and it made its way along side a brook.
I walked along the trail until i came to the end of it which was by one of the footbridges i walked across earlier.  It is not very far, only about 1/2 mile.  When i got to the end i turned around and went back to the path and continued my walk.
I'd like to make trails defined like this with branches and wood chips between them on our land.  I can just see me making trails all over the place.  With 8 acres i could get my 6 mile walk in without ever leaving.
I know what i'd like for my birthday next May - a wood chipper!!!  : )  I am not kidding either.  I can't wait to get started making my trails.  Too bad it wasn't spring coming up instead of winter.
The only people i saw out were a couple walking their two dogs and a man putting out bags of leaves that he raked the day before.  All 30 of them.
I spotted three deer and heard a woodpecker but couldn't find it.
After the beautiful sunrise the clouds came along and covered it back up so i walked in a cloudy morning.  Still it was a great morning for walking.
I walked 6.7 miles.

We are hanging around the house here this morning but will probably go out and do some errands after lunch.

A happy Saturday to you all.
Happyone : )
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know everything,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
because it means you've made a difference.

Your lovely sunrise reminded me... I see a tiny bit of sunrise, out the window by our bed. Keep wanting to have my camera there, to capture it.

Keep forgetting camera, at night. -pout-

Tonight! Bring camera up with me!!!

There are so many trees around, that the spot-which-gets-red, is pretty tiny. But I love to lie there and watch it develop. Of course, you are out and moving already, when I am still lying in bed. :-)))))))))

Gentle hugs,
"Auntie"

Enjoyed your poem. Sometimes, I forget to be thankful for the challenges. Have a good weekend.

Nice sunrise. Nice poem. You got that right about the shoes. Finding a good pair of shoes (and hiking boots is key). I like your plans for your land. You will have a lot of fun dreaming of things you will do. I'd love to have 8 acres and turn it into a wildlife haven. Enjoy the day, and the week. Art
