Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A rainy day

Woke up to the sound of rain on the windows.  I got up but didn't go on my walk right away.  Wanted to wait until it was light out. At 7:30 I checked the radar weather map on my computer and saw that there was a break in the rain, so i decided to go then before another batch of showers came through.  I just wore my regular walking clothes and left the umbrella at home.  Figured i'd have enough time to get back home before the rain.  Well i guess the light shower that came down after only walking a mile didn't show up on the radar.  It was very light and it showered on and off during the rest of my walk.  I was damp but never really got wet.
I walked around the lake and even on a wet day it has it's own beauty.
Since i didn't have my umbrella i didn't get to hear the rain there but i heard it falling on the leaves and dripping down through the trees.  That's another one of those good sounds!!
There were some people out, not many but more than usual for a rainy day.
Didn't see much wildlife at all, just the geese and ducks who i guess like the rain.
It was rather a quiet and uneventful walk but still i was out there walking and i enjoyed it.

I thought about going to the commissary but i was just lazy and ended up not going.  Just didn't feel like going out in the rain.  I know it is just an excuse but it worked for me.

I've been going to town on the knitting of those six Christmas scarves.  I have finished four of them and started on the fifth.  Purple, Black, Red, & Tan are finished.  Working on the Blue which just leaves the Black/Gray one.

I'm planning a new little house project for me to do.  I'll be painting the little bathroom upstairs in the hall.  I'm thinking of the color yellow.  It is just the builders white in there now.

That's it for today.
A happy day to you.
Happyone : )
Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.

I agree walking in the rain can be very nice :)
Good luck with the painting project.

Rain in the fall takes on sounds and creates beauty of its own with the leaves. It was a lazy, rainy day. Wow, you're fast to get those scarves done. Yellow sounds like a good bathroom color. My 1960s house has a yellow tub, sink and toilet - original! :)

If you had gone to the commissary today, I'd have really wondered about how closely we do things...I was stocking up this afternoon in advance of the rain. I love how you describe your walk telling us about the sights and the sounds and even including that you were damp, but not wet through. That's why I don't have to get out and walk. Ha! I've got to get back to walking. I injured my knee walking and it was impossible for a few weeks, but I'm feeling better now and ready to go again.

We want to see the scarves and the yellow bathroom. I think yellow is a beautiful color for a bathroom or any room.
