Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

My old walking route

I didn't walk any of my regular routes this morning.  We left first thing to go over to the old house to have a day of yard work.  While Ken got started on the yard work I went for my morning walk and walked the route I used to walk when we lived there.  I had a great place for walking there too, up to the park and along paths in the woods.  Before I made my way to the park I walked around town a little bit.
At the edge of the park by the ball fields I picked up this path here.
This is one of a few foot bridges I crossed over.
At the end of the first path, it is now more of a road because new sewers were put in and this is so all the big trucks and equipment could make it in to the woods.
At the end of the path I crossed a street and picked up another path.  The path goes right underneath Interstate 95.
I am looking up here at 95.  I went under both north and south sides.
The path goes along a river and I walked down to the river and took this picture.
The bridge up ahead is called the Pratt Bridge.
I took this picture standing on the bridge looking down at the water.
Then I turned around and walked back.  It was nice walking along my old route.  I like how it meanders along the river and I can hear the water.  When I moved I thought I'd never find a nice place like this to walk again.  As much I as I like this walk, I like my walk around the lake at home better.
There were a lot of people along the path today walking, running and riding bikes but I only saw one person I knew from when I walked there.  I was a later though than I used to walk so maybe they were all there earlier.
I saw a couple of deer and many birds.  No ducks or geese though.
A bit of a cool front came by last night so it wasn't so humid today which made walking super nice.
I walked 6.6 miles and for me that was 13,605 steps.
**********************************************
Once I got back to the house I changed my clothes, got out the lawn mower and mowed the lawn, front and back.  Ken had done a lot of weeding, trimming and cutting back tree branches while I was gone.
Lunch time came around and we decided instead of having a DAY of yard work we would have a MORNING only of yard work.

We went back home, washed, and changed clothes and then went out to do a few errands.  Before errands we stopped at Subway and had sandwiches.  I was very hungry because there was no time for breakfast this morning.  I thought I'd be hungry enough to eat my whole sub but still got full after eating half of it.

So that's been my day so far.  Not sure what the rest of the day will bring.
Hope you're enjoying your Saturday.
Till next time.......

Nice to be able to vary your walk, with going back to your old "stomping grounds." (old area) Do you say "stomping grounds," where you live? :-)

And followed by lawn cutting. You got a fantastic workout.

Toe still OK?

AuntA, I don't know if they say stomping grounds here in MD but in northern NJ where I'm originally from they do! My toe is back to normal, thanks for asking.

Karen, I remember this walk! I was so happy when you started heading off toward I95 because I remembered it from away back. Well, if one can call 2007 away back.

This is getting weird. John and I felt like Subway today, too. We shared a foot-long chicken with veggie sandwich on whole wheat and their FUZE green tea. I'm still sipping on mine. The thing is, we haven't been to Subway since 2008. Told you it was weird. Now if we'd cleaned the yard this morning and walked 6 point gazillion miles, it would really, really be weird.

Say hey to Ken for us!

You are so lucky to have so many walking paths in the different neighborhoods where you live and lived. Thanks for all your pictures today, it really gave me a better picture of how far your walk. I don't know if I'll ever hit 13K steps/day. I keep telling myself, I'm doing more than I've done before. I've only hit 8K a couple of times, each time amazes me. What a great day to be outside, thankfully, the humidity had departed for a few days. Hi to Ken, enjoy the nice weekend!

I think that no matter where you live you would be able to find a nice walking route.
The river looks like a beautiful sight to see and the paths look nice and shaded by all of those trees.

I know that trail that walks under Route 95. It is a beautiful trail ... only marred by the sounds of the traffic on Rote 95. My husband and I walked that trail many times. And it is a distance. I also recognized the bridge at the end because that is close to where I live now. Great walk.

I've always loved walking along water -- creeks, ponds, oceans... :)
