Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A beautiful day

The weather this morning was even better than yesterday.  Sunny, very low humidity and only 50 degrees.  It just doesn't get better than that for a morning walk.  I walked around the lake again.  Saw a few deer, lots of rabbits, two white egrets, and a few more baby geese.  Here's two of them with mom.
Dad and one more were down by the water, no picture though.  Dad wasn't having it.
The small footbridge that needed to be repaired yesterday has already been fixed.  They didn't waste any time.  If your are wondering, yes, I did pick up that discarded water bottle and threw it in the trash.
There were lots of people around the lake again.  Walkers, runners, bike riders and even a few people with strollers, fishermen, and people out on the lake in boats fishing.  Lots of activity for early morning.
It was great to be outside and I walked 6.3 miles.

Last nights gelati was a good one indeed.  We both picked chocolate ice cream with banana ice.  Yummy!

This morning I brought that huge book back to the library and found another book by Ken Follett called Code to Zero.  I hope this is as good at the other two of his I've  read.  Also picked up the next two books in the cat series by Lilian Jackson Braun.
I was walking back to my car and was just about there when some guy that was walking realized that it was mine and said, Hey Karen, how come you didn't get that car with a stick shift.  I said I did, it's a 6 speed.  He then just said oh.  I don't know why but a lot of men assume my car is automatic.  A lot of them also think they have to say something about my car. I don't really mind it is just funny sometimes the things they come out with.
I went the long way home just to take a little ride because it was so nice out.  I stopped and got a picture of my street sign picture for tomorrow which I post on my photo blog.  I think its  a good one. : )

I gave my car a wash when I got home.  Now she is spic and span again and looking GOOD!
A lot of Corvettes don't put the front license plate on just because it doesn't look good.  I've gotten stopped a few times and told was told to put it on.  The first couple of times the cops just told me nicely and didn't give me a ticket.  The last time I got a written warning and was told the next time I would receive ticket so I broke down and put the front license plate on. (Ken has never gotten stopped for that.)  Anyway for my birthday (I asked for it) Ken gave me a license plate bracket holder for the front of my car.  It's called a surround.  I put it on after I got finished washing my car.
Here's what it looked like before without the surround bracket.
And here it is with the surround bracket.  I don't know if you can see all that much difference but it just gives it a nice clean neat look.
After all that I realized I never ate breakfast or lunch so had a very late lunch today and then went out on the deck and started reading one of the cat books.  I had planned on doing the rest of the house work for the week, but just never got around to it.

Hope your Friday was a happy sunny day.

Oh how I love summer, one task and the day is done except for the leisure we choose! I like this picture of the ducks, you can tell which are the babies. Those maintenance folks are fast, I've never seen a repair happen overnight (unless the footbridge has been in need of repair for awhile). I know what you mean about the gas. I use to have a Cadillac STS Seville, that baby was sweet. It took premium gas, which was before the gas got REALLY expensive. The transmission went on it afte 60K miles, I traded it for the Ford 500 I have now. Enjoy your readying, you're certainly well stocked.

I admire anyone who can tackle a book of over 1000 pages. It's not in me anymore. I need to read an overview. Ha!

Nice job on the footbridge...of course, you picked that bottle up. So like you. You're a true steward of the paths you walk.

I can't see a lick of difference between one license plate and the next, but I'll take your word for it.

Still waiting to try a gelato? gelati? Something.

If you two ever want to get rid of those old nasty cars (HA HA), Karen, George and I will take them off of your hands... BUT--the cars may not like us much since we don't do a very good job of keeping Mrs. P (our Prius) clean....

Have a good weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

That car question is kind of offending. I'd harrumphhhhhhhhh-him, for thinking *a woman* couldn't drive anything but automatic. So there! :-)

My father was in the State Police and "back at the beginning of time," when I was 16 and got my license, he insisted I learn on a shift. :-) Never sorry I did either.
