Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Happy Days

I had a very nice weekend.  Of course I started each day with my morning walk.
On Saturday after a pancake breakfast Ken and I went over to Annapolis which is only about a half hour drive and walked around town.  We stopped at one of the restaurants down by the water and had lunch outside.  Then we walked down to the water and sat on a bench and watched the boats coming and going.  The weather was perfect - nice and sunny with a slight breeze.

Mother's Day I never did make it to church.  I was getting ready when I got a text from my son David which said Happy Mother's Day.  I wrote back with thanks.  Five minutes later the doorbell rang.  I threw on some clothes, ran downstairs to answer the door and there stood David, Scout and Japhy to wish me a Happy Mother's Day in person.  What a great surprise!! : )
I called Ken who was over at the old house changing the oil in his car and he finished up and came home.  We had lunch out on the deck and just had a great visit catching up and just being together.  The weather was once again perfect to make it a special Mother's Day.  I even shared some of those chocolates I got from Debbi on Friday with them.

Monday morning and another walk this morning.  It was sunny and 47 degrees but it warmed up quickly.  I walked around the lake.  Lots of people there for a Monday.
Along the path to the lake were quite a few Goldfinches, I must have seen a least 8 of them.  A few Gray Catbirds were there as well.  I saw the baby geese again by the lake and they are getting pretty big already.  Also saw quite a few rabbits.  I had a bit of trouble with my camera.  I used the zoom and the whole camera froze up.  I couldn't get it to do anything, not even turn it off.  I then took out the battery, put it back in and then it was fine.  I hope this is not going to be a problem.
It is so nice to be walking at this time of year - lots of sunshine and everything looks so pretty.  I love my morning walks.
Today I walked 6.4 miles.
Sunrise 6:00
Sunset 8:08

After hanging the sheets out to dry on the line, I had breakfast and then headed out to do a few errands.  Such a nice day for driving around with the windows down.
Back home, did a few chores, had some lunch and sat outside on the deck for a while making some weave-its.  Then a few more chores needed to get done and before I knew it Ken was coming home from work.  This day just flew by.

It's after supper now and time for some reading before ice cream and television.
Hope your Monday was a good one.
A smile from me to you.

The perfect Mother's Day surprise! Your son is a pretty good trickster. Glad that you took some time. I took Thursday and Friday and was gnashing at the bit to get back. I did think a lot about your featured Ellen DeGeneres quote while away.

What a great surprise you received for Mother's Day. Nice of you to share your chocolates too ;).
I love the little goldfinches. I was watching one at my feeder as I ate breakfast this morning.

I just love Annapolis, walking around all those shops and sitting by the water, so relaxing on a sunny day. Glad to hear you made a Mother's Day memory. Such a wonderful surprise, a from your son and grandchildren. Sounds like you had the perfect day. I did miss you, admittedly, I took some time off the blog too. I enjoy joining you each day for a walk, especially in this weather.
