Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A Muff

This morning was a misty one with a temperature of 41 degrees.  I didn't bother wearing my rain pants but I did wear my yellow rain slicker.  There was a slight mist when I started walking and just enough of a breeze to blow it in my face.  That didn't last long though because the mist stopped and didn't start up again until I was a block from home. I walked around my lake this morning and was practically the only person there.  As I was walking over one of the foot bridges I heard a rustle in the woods and there were four deer running.  Haven't seen many deer around the lake since they thinned them out so it was nice to see them.  I see a lot of the geese and ducks in pairs and they seem to have picked out their homes.  When others get too close they are chased away.  The male geese are very protective toward their "wife" and will be even more so once the babies arrive.
I never get bored on my walks because there is always so much to see and I never know what will be coming my way.  Its a little adventure each day.  :-)
I walked 6.2 miles.

I was going to go to the commissary but since it was a rainy day I decided not to.  Besides I really don't NEED anything so I'll just put it off a week.

Today I made some Blueberry Muffins (easy - just from a mix).  I usually pack up a breakfast and lunch for Ken to take to work and the muffins are for his breakfast.  More than likely I'll have one for my breakfast tomorrow as well.  I like the little mixes because they only make six muffins.
The rest of the day I'll just be doing stuff around the house.  I'll find time for knitting and reading too.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I came across some old pictures that I had forgotten about and thought it might be fun to post one every so often and tell about a memory.
Do any of you remember muffs?
I loved my muff and got it for Christmas one year with a matching hat. I loved how soft the fur felt.  In the picture I'm all ready to go to church on this Christmas morning in my matching hat and muff.  Don't I looked pleased with myself.  :-)  I wonder whatever become of my muff.
A happy day to you.
I'll bet that there are some mornings when you'd like to have a muff again. You look darling in that outfit. I always wanted a muff and one of those hats, but never had them. One year, remembering this, I purchased a set for both of my nieces (around 1987 I think). They've never forgiven me and still give me grief. I can't imagine why. If they'd been in style when my daughter was younger than 12, she'd have had a set, too.
The Jif boxes of muffin mixes are great and I love the corn bread, too. We're eating from the freezer this week. Every time I go grocery shopping I spend too much.
Love the picture. You are a cutie. I have some frozen Blueberries in the freezer. I made blueberrie pancakes , two smoothies and I batch of muffins so far. I love blueberries. I still have a lot. I see muffins in my future again soon.
I haven't seen many deer around our place either, and we back up to the woods. In the summer time, they cut through our property about two to three times a week. I saw my first geese yesterday heading to lunch with my BFF, they were around a large pond near an office building. They looked as if they were having such fun chasing each other. Hummm, never tried making muffins from a box. I'll give Vee's JIF suggestion a try. I do remember the Muff! I had the matching Hat & Muff set as well. Must have been the style back in the day. Mine was so soft, like cat fur, I remembering using it as a pillow as well. I don't remember what happened to mine either.
Amazing. Great minds!! I have picked out some old pictures I thought would be fun to share - as well as a few stories. I have held off because I was preparing for the A to Z blogging challenge. But now that I think about it, I could work a few into my April postings.
I loved your picture.
I never had a muff. My best friend did and I was very envious.
Another gloomy day today. The rain will certainly make the flowers pop when the sun comes out and the temperatures warm.
I took a long walk around our wetlands on Monday. I saw our beaver, but knew I couldn't take a good picture because he/she is brown and so is the water. It was exciting to see him.
Hope your Thursday is happy. Actually, I know it will be :))
Such a sweet picture! My sister and I both had muff and hat sets just like yours!! For years they were stored in the cedar chest--who knows, perhaps they are still there!
Appreciate your sweet comments--we do have good family moments, but let me be REAL here! We also have our problems--especially lately it seems--still love each other, but life's been a little thorny lately and that's why "C"'s been picking up the slack and writing more!
Have a great weekend!
