Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

An empty egg

No thunderstorm today so I was out walking my usual time of 6:35.  It was 46 degrees and it felt damp but still it was a good day to be out and walking.  I first walked around the lake.  The moon was still out this morning and I snapped this picture of it over the lake with its reflection in the water.
The beaver was out again and I saw him in the water.  Stopped to watch him swimming around.  They are bigger than I thought.  Still haven't been able to get a good picture of him though.  As I walked past a mini little pond (more like a deep puddle)  I saw the water ripple and when I looked down, saw a little frog for just a second as he went down under the water and got lost in some weeds.
A handful of people were out and a few fishermen were out as well.  Most morning lake people are pretty friendly and will say good morning or a least smile.  Others just like their time alone and don't want to interact with others at all.  I usually try to get them to talk a few times and then leave them alone.  One lady I've stopped trying to talk to.  Whenever I see her now, she takes out her cell phone.
I walked the lower path around the lake today. On the path that leads back toward home I thought this hillside looked so pretty with all the daffodils blooming.
On the way back home I passed up my turn for home and continued to walk down to the path I walked along yesterday and went to find that egg again.   Vee got me curious to see what was inside the egg.  I found it and opened it up and there was absolutely nothing in it at all.
Then headed back home and ended up walking 7 miles.

Tuesday morning again and time for the knitting group so didn't have much time to do anything in the morning.
Just came home after knitting and had some lunch and then did a few things around the house.
That's been my day so far.
Hope your having a good one.
A Happy Day to you.

It was one of those March days
when the sun shines hot
and the wind blows cold:
when it is summer in the light,
and winter in the shade.

Oh - how funny - I thought yesterday that the egg was real! (Guess a fox didn't want it after all.) I love the shot of the lake with the moon reflected. Seeing the frog and the beaver must be a joy. No walk for me - very windy here.

Perfect! It is empty just like the tomb. (The old object lesson from teaching Sunday school children the Easter story.) Thanks for checking.

Love the little descriptions you give us of your morning walks. It can almost make me feel as if I went along, too. I am grinning about the lady who reaches for her cell phone when you appear. Imagine what she's thinking! ROFL! Her loss completely.

Have an excellent evening and say howdy to Ken.

I agree with Vee, you are so descriptive with your walk, you make us feel as if we're there with you. Your picture this morning with the moon reflection is just beautiful. And yes, I giggled too about the lady with the cell phone. I thought the egg was real as well. Your picture today shows it much clearer as plastic. Perhaps next passing place a nickel inside and see how long it stays there? I'm sure you'll catch a picture of that beaver.

Curiosity was getting the best of me with that egg. Glad you made sure there wasn't some great treasure hidden in there.
I love to encounter friendly people on my walks and would be thrilled to say hello to you. Around here it seems I am always saying hello to people and getting no response only to discover they are plugged in to ear phones of some sort. I don't get it. I'd much rather be in tune with the birds. To each his own I guess.

HI HO, I am proud of you taking those long, long walks. That is SO good for us all. Today, George and I worked in the yard SO LONG --and I'm pooped tonight.

Glad you checked out the egg... Cannot imagine who dropped it ---maybe LAST Easter.....?????? Too bad there wasn't a big piece of money in there for you!!!!! ha

Hugs,
Betsy

I loved that quote by Dickens... it is so true. Sometimes it feels exactly the same way here...

I love walking in early morning, but rarely do-maybe this summer! Sad about the unfriendly lady--makes me wonder about some people! I do love your descriptive accounts--I can walk "with" you!

What a glorious way to start your days. The beauty in the nature you experience every morning is so precious and nourishing for the soul. By your inspiration, I am going to try to make spending time with nature, even if it's only a few moments, a priority in each and every day...thank you for sharing your walks!
