Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

An inside run and a memory

I thought I was going to be sore from yesterdays snow shoveling but not so today.  I guess I'm in better shape than I thought.  Must be lifting those weights a few times a week. :-)
The temperature was 27 when I woke up and things looked pretty icy so I decided not to walk again.  I hate missing so many walking days and I'm starting to hate winter right about now.  Oh for those nice sunny green days around the lake.
So this morning I put on my pedometer and started jogging around the house.  I went up and down the stairs and around all the rooms.  Sometimes I ran in place for a while.  I turned on the television and got glimpses of the Today Show as I ran by or sometimes ran in place while I watched something on the show.  I saw the gorilla in England that walks upright like a man!
I saw a few birds fly past the window and saw a few people walking their dogs up the street.  It was a pretty boring run but I made the best of it and I'm glad to have gotten my exercise in for the day.  The picture today is one of the flights of stairs I ran up and down. :-)
I ran around until my pedometer said 6 miles!!  The temperature inside was 64 outside it was 27.  I turned the heat up to the normal 69 once I was cool again.

Ken and I have our wedding anniversary coming up on Sunday and today I've been thinking back to how we met.  I know some of you know this story but for those of you who don't, here it is.  My story is a bit unusual.
My mother and father were divorced and my dad had a boat which he kept on the Hudson River, in Nyack, New York.  I would drive up to the boat on weekends to see my dad and his girlfriend Jeanne.
One 4th of July I went up to the boat for the holiday with my boyfriend and another friend of mine to spend the day. Jeanne's two kids were to be there too and I would be meeting them for the first time.  Her daughter Kathy was there with her 10 month old baby, Diane.  Her son, as you probably have guessed is Ken who came up to the boat with his girlfriend.  Well when the two of us met there was a connection right away and Kenny captured my heart that very day.  It made things a bit awkward because we both happened to be engaged to other people.  We ended those engagements and started dating.
We were married the end of January just 6 months later.
Though my dad and Ken's mother did get married they got divorced several years later but for a time Ken and I were step-brother and sister!
My mother in law was also my step mother.
My sister in law was also my step sister.
When David and Debbi came along, not only were they my kids, but also my nephew and niece.
Pretty crazy huh.
So how did you meet your husband/wife?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm home today again and as I look out of the window I see more snow coming down.  Only supposed to get 2 more inches but that is two more that I want.
It feels like a nice afternoon to do as little work as possible and enjoy a good book.
Try to make your Friday a happy day.
A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)
Hooray for indoor walking! :-)
Lovely story of how you two met.
We met in church. How corny is that? ,-) He was about 14 and had an amazing voice, which he used, in Church. I was 11, with a very Catholic mother, who went to church often. When I got a look at, and a listen to the new [he just moved to there] church vocalist, I went more often, with her. :-)
But that age diff was huge then. 'Twas not till later, that we began dating. :-) I had spent an awful lot of pre-teen and teen time, pining for him, in between though. -giggles-
I met my husband at an on campus student job site. We worked in the same place for 2 years before we married. When I first met him I was told that he talked to no one but the front office supervisor and to not even bother trying to talk with him. Being a very outgoing person (drama minor in college) I set my goal to not only talk with him but to get him to ask me out on a date. That was 42 years ago. Life takes some pretty funny turns. I am still outgoing and he is still very shy - hermit like, but we have made it work.
You certainly don't let anything stand in the way of your exercise. I admire that about you.
I think I do recall reading about how you and Ken met, but it was interesting to read again. Definitely sounds like love at first sight :).
Hope you don't get too much more snow. We are supposed to reach 60 tomorrow. I'm loving it.
Have a great weekend.
Me again. I meant to answer your question about the viola. They are a smaller version of a pansy.
What a lovely story. My husband, of 32 years, was introduced to me by my eldest son, whose girlfriend was my husband's secretary!
If I don't get a chance to tell you before Sunday, have a great Anniversary celebration! Your story is very interesting, of how you met, and of course, you've read how my husband and I met. Isn't it great to look back and thank the Lord for His leading? Blessings to you and Ken!
Happy Anniversary! We had our 42nd on Jan. 11. I met my husband when I was in second grade and he was in third. He was in the tap dancing class before mine (his mother always wanted a girl, but he rebelled after one year of tap dancing). So I feel like I have known him all my life which is nice.
I love your story, and happy anniversary. I met my ex through co-workers. I met my boyfriend through a co-worker too. Both at the salon where I work.
Happy Anniversary!
My nephew invited me to visit just before my birthday in 1998. He also invited one of his friends for the same time. It was an unexpected meeting but the rest is history. Hary and I were married on 1 July, 2000.
The story of how you and Ken met is very interesting, and, I agree, somewhat unusual. Betsy and I met in church. The most unusual thing about that is that Betsy was the minister.
Great story and I love the quote - so apt. Peter and I met in a folk dance group to which my mother had sent me to learn more about my culture (Lithuanian). Little did she know that there was an awful lot of socialising going on. At 15 I was 4 or 5 years younger than most of the group and had a wonderful time rehearsing and travelling around the country to give performances. Happy Anniversary to you both.
Happy anniversary! May you have many more. Great story of how you met your future step-brother and husband! My wife and I met through her mother, who was my boss at my part-time job when I was in college. Seems like eons ago now.
I can loan you a pair of snowshoes. Believe me, you will get a great workout in those! Art
Wow! Running 6 miles in your townhouse must have really been something!
Congrats on your anniversary! I met my husband at the campus radio station where he was a disc jockey and I was a programmer. It wasn't exactly love at first sight!
