Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

No Walk Today

Sidewalks are icy today after yesterdays snow so I decided (with Ken's suggestion) not to walk this morning. I do cold, hot, rain, wind, and snow but not ice.  I hate not walking!!  :-( I started the day out doing a couple of Body Electric exercise DVD's so I feel good about getting some exercise in.  The temperature was 17 degrees.  It rose to 34 later in the day.

There wasn't very much snow on the driveway but the snow plow went by and left a little pile so I went out and shoveled that up.

Just did a little work around the house.  I spent time on the computer, did some reading and knitting.  I'm reading a book of short stories by Maeve Binchy.  I don't usually read short stories but the ones in this book are quite good.

This evening my church is putting on their Christmas program and I'm looking forward to going to watch that.  Ken is going to come along with me.

That's it for today.  A nice quiet day so far.
Hope all is well in your part of the world.
A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)

we usually find that the simplest things,
not the great occasions,
give off the greatest glow of happiness.

It's not worth the risk to walk if the paths are icy. Good decision! Those exercise videos must come in handy for days like this. I remember one of my grandmother's friends describing a book she was reading by Binchy as "one of those books by that Bitchy author." It makes me laugh every time I think about it.

Wise idea not to walk on the ice.
A Christmas program at church sounds like a nice way to spend the evening. Hope you enjoy it.

I'm a little south in NC. The snow and ice was a little north of me. I decided today was a good day to plant my daffodil bulbs because it was so warm out! If I plant them too early, they sprout and then the cold kills the sprouting leaves and I have no flowers. So, I waited until we had some colder weather to plant them this year. I got so warm with my fleece jacket today I took it off and was working in just a T-shirt! A few days ago it was around 17 degrees!

I skipped my running today. It was a tough week and i just wanted to calm myself a bit by relaxing and eating junk food today. From tomorrow, i have a different list of things to do.

I fear if you had gone out most of your 6+ miles would have been rolling! I know you love to walk, but this was a good call.

ale - I've read 4 or 5 Binchy novels and liked them - plan to read all of them. The latest was The Return Journey, a collection of short stories.
I've heard of Pilcher but haven't read any of her books. Sounds like another author to add to my list of books to read!
$10 for jeans is cheap here too. Ross is a discount store with real good bargains!!
