Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

My Favorite Candle

Another one of those cold winter mornings.  18 degrees and very windy.  I walked along the neighborhood paths on not any particular route of mine.  I just let my feet go where they wanted.  When I'm walking along the paths lined with trees, they protect me from the wind quite a bit. As I listened to the wind howling above me I could hear some of the trees rubbing against each other making a creaking sound like a door opening.
As you can imagine there were only a few people out and they were all walking dogs.  I saw a couple of deer at the edge of a path and many squirrels.  An uneventful walk but a good one all the same.
I walked 6.5 miles.  It was up to 22 degrees when I got home.

Tuesday once again so the morning was a rush trying to get out of the house to go to my knitting group.  I left my car at home and drove the FJ today.  I don't drive it all that often but that too is a fun car to drive.  I sit up so high and get such a good view of things.  I feel like I'm driving a bus.

Since I was just at the library on Sunday I made myself pass up the library today.  I could have dropped a book off, but I knew I would end up with another book if I went anywhere near the library!

I took some chocolate chip cookies and stopped off at Gertie's house on the way home.  She is the 89 year old woman who I met walking.  I haven't seen her for awhile and I don't know her phone number so couldn't call to see if she was at home.  I had asked her one time if she would mind if I stopped by some time for a visit and she told me any time.  Anyway I was disappointed to find her not at home. I left a card and the cookies on her door knob and will stop by another day.

Then it was home for lunch, and doing some every day house chores that I didn't get done this morning.

Ken received a Mistletoe Yankee Candle as a Christmas gift from someone at work and I just love the fragrance!!  Since we don't have a real tree this is just perfect.  No messy needles but still the smell of Christmas.  I have it lit whenever I'm home. When this burns itself out, I'm going to go buy another one.

I have a few more house chores to do for the day and then I'm going to sit in my chair by the window near the Christmas tree and read.
I hope where you are that you are staying nice and warm.  It has been very windy here all day and as I look at my thermometer now it says 24!
A smile from me to you.
Happyone :-)
A Christmas candle is a lovely thing;
It makes no noise at all,
But softly gives itself away.

"Yours" is blue. "Mine" is all silver. :-)))

Hope the 89 year old lady, whom you met walking, is ok.

Not outside, just inside on my ol' treadmill, but we both walked today. :-) Actually, it's upstairs and I keep the heat off up there, so...... It was cold. -grin- NOT like the wind singing in the trees cold, which you had out, this morning!

"...the wind howling above me I could hear some of the trees rubbing against each other making a creaking sound like a door opening."

Ohhhhh, I think you should try your hand at writing a book, maybe a spooky book. ,-) Perhaps the trees were purposely rubbing against each other........ A kind of a signal or a message, being passed on, from tree to tree to tree..................

:-)))))))))))))

I think you're really putting that new thermometer to good use! I just came in from cross country skiing, and it is 50 degrees here - I'm hoping the snow doesn't melt!

It's too bad Gertie wasn't home as I'm sure she would have loved to visit with you. You are so sweet to always be doing kind things for others.
Sitting by your tree while reading sounds like a nice thing to do after finishing your chores.
I am burning a Yankee candle now called Sugar Cookie. I love most of their candles, but I haven't tried the Mistletoe yet.

I love the thought of Gertie arriving home to find cookies on her doorknob. I bet she smiled really big.

Gosh, you're making me want to invest in a Yankee candle. I could run down to the local gift shop tomorrow as she is a Yankee dealer. Not in the budget, but some things are needful.

You'll surely recognize the smell of my home when you're here. Mistletoe is my very favorite Christmas scent and I've been burning it for years. It smells how Christmas should.

Kind of you to drop off cookies to Gertie. I have a few of that same candle: I love it!

After reading your comment about the Mistletoe candle I went to my local Hallmark store and purchased one. It is everything you said it is and my home now smells like a real christmas tree. I usually purchase cinnamon scent candles but this one says Christmas
