Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

My shoes added to the tree

Monday has come around again.  The weekend went much too fast even with that extra hour. :-)  A nice cold sunny morning for walking around the lake.  The wildlife is back, at least I'm seeing it again.  Four deer, three rabbits, cardinals and two hawks of some kind.  I also saw two herons and this one walking in the water let me take a picture before he flew off.
As usual for Monday, I didn't see that many people, but a few of the regulars were about.  A few fishermen were sitting in lawn chairs by the waters edge.
On Saturday I posted a picture of a pair of shoes in a tree.  Val told me about a website about shoe trees.  Click HERE to read about them.  Today I added my old pair of walking shoes to the tree.  Mine are the ones on the right.
Who knows, maybe we can start a shoe tree too. :-)
I walked 6.7 miles.

Giving Thanks Day Number 8
Today I am thankful for Warm Sunshine on a cold morning.
Walking in the cold and then coming out of the shade to feel the sunshine on my face is a feeling that is beyond words.

Went driving around in this nice bright sunny day and did a few errands.  One of which was dropping a couple books off at the library.  I was very good and didn't even look for more books.  Just dropped the books in the book drop and turned around and left.

When I made cheesecake last week some of it seeped out of the bottom of the spring form pan unto the bottom of the oven.  Every time since then when I turn on the oven I have clouds of smoke coming out of it.  I have to put the fan on and open all the kitchen windows. I always mean to turn the cleaning cycle of the oven on but then  I forget about it till the next time.   I'm surprised that the smoke detector hasn't gone off.  Well today for lunch I heated up a piece of pizza in the oven and had all the smoke again.  This time right afterwards I turned on the cleaning cycle.  Oh boy what a smell and oh the smoke.  It burned my eyes.  I even saw some flames as the baked on cheesecake cooked off the oven.  The cleaning cycle takes 4 hours and 20 minutes to complete.  I will certainly be glad when it is finished.  After the first hour it started getting a bit better. There are still more than two hours left to go.
I think I am going to invest in a good spring form pan too so this doesn't happen again!!

I haven't done a thing around the house and don't feel like getting starting at this time of the day.  So off I go do my usual late afternoon thing, knitting and reading.

Hope you had a good start to the week.
Happyone :-)

"thank you,"
that would suffice.

I always cover the sides and bottom of my springform pan with foil just because of the leaks. I think leaking is pretty common. I'll never forget when I 'cured' my cast iron skillet, or whatever you call that process. I coated it with shortening and baked it for a long time. It made such a horrible smell! Had I known, I would have done it in the summer with all the windows open. Your story of the smoke reminded me of that. It took forever to get rid of the smell.

I took the day off too. Except unlike you, I didn't have a healthy walk first.

Happy evening to a happy person.

I didn't take the day off! I cleaned and did laundry. Maybe tomorrow! It will be interesting to see if anyone else adds shoes to the tree.

In these parts, shoes are slung up across an overhead electric wire or cable as a message to druggies that a supplier is nearby.

How did you do that with your shoes???? Neat!

I have stuff in the bottom of my oven, too, and I keep forgetting to clean it. I need to do it by Thanksgiving. That smell is awful, isn't it? My smoke alarm has gone off a couple of times because I was cleaning the oven!

I applaud your attitude, my Dear! I join you in this attitude, many days! ,-)

Kathy - I just tied the two shoes together and flung them up there. It did take me about 5 tries before they actually stayed up!

What an interesting idea - the shoes and the tree. I am eager to hear if others join in.
