Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Walking Friend

Never got back to posting again last night.  It wasn't that I got busy with anything and didn't have time, it's just because I didn't do much of anything.  It was one of those rainy days.  Just stayed home and cleaned, read and knitted.  Ken didn't get home till after 8:00 so I really had the whole day to myself.

More rain all night but it had stopped by the time I got up this morning.  It was a cool cloudy and very windy morning.  The wind is blowing all those rain clouds away and I've even seen the sun peak through at times.  I have a rain gauge on the deck which holds five inches and it was overflowing with water so we had more than five inches of rain in a day.
It was nice walking on a cool dry morning.  I walked over to the lake and walked around just the lower path by the lake.  There are quite a few entrances to the park and as I got to the main one, a walker friend Joanne and I met where the path meets so we walked around the lake together.  Most of us like walking alone but at times we do walk around together.  I usually walk in the opposite direction that she does and we usually pass and say hi and once in a while stop and chat for a bit, so it was nice today to walk with her and get to know her a little better.  She is a very friendly, happy kind of person and always has a smile. I think a walker friend may become a friend friend. :-)
We stopped and watched two herons fly over the lake.  Didn't see much in the way of wildlife today because we did too much talking!!
We parted when we came to the part of the path that I take that leads back home.  I didn't head for home just yet but walked down the road a ways and walked back on one of the paths through the woods.  I got to walk through leaves and hear the wind blowing the trees around above my head.  The stream through the woods was swollen with water too and I could see how high the water had been by how the grass looked all beaten down.  The picture is of one of the many wooden footbridges I walk over.
I walked a bit over seven miles again.  I seem to have slowly added a mile to my walk.

I think I'm having another day at home.  I'll finish up a few house things and do some fun things this afternoon.  Maybe we'll do something this evening when Ken comes home from work.

It's Friday!!  Have a great day.
Happyone :-)

It's very windy and wet here today too, in Hastings UK. Now that I am back at work after the summer school holdays, I have to split my 5mile-a day walk into three parts. Got really wet during my lunch time walk and back at school the children were giving me enquiring looks. Might get those waterproof trousers like you to keep myself comfortable. Have a good day. Wow, that is a lot of rain in one day. Joanne sounds like a pleasant lady to enjoy a walk with. Your footbridge picture is looking a bit more autumnal with the fallen leaves.
I'm having an at home day today too. It's so beautiful out I'm torn between inside jobs and outside ones.
Have a nice weekend.

The next time you meet Joanne, you must set a coffee or tea date at Starbucks or where you can get a muffin. After walking seven miles, you'll be able to use the calories! Lazy rainy day here, too. Thanks for your call...

-sigh- Must ask... Aren't you ever worried about safety? Walking at the same time, every day... And in pretty-but-secluded paths/areas?

Please and thank you, for allowing me to ask.

Aunt A - No, I don't worry at all. I don't walk exactly the same way every day but vary my walk. The paths may look secluded from the pictures, but they wind between houses and neighborhoods. I never walk listening to music because I like to be aware of my surroundings. I always have my cell phone and my camera with me. I've been walking along paths for over 22 years and have never had any problems. I will not let fear of what MIGHT happen keep my from my walks. Besides they would have to catch me first. :-)
Lots of people ask me that question.

Just realized it's only 6 more miles than you're currently walking to Baltimore City limits!
