Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Me too

 Sunrise 7:24
Sunset 6:19
I woke up this morning with a sore throat.  That is how my colds usually start so it looks like I'm getting Ken's cold.  My colds are normally pretty mild and I'm hoping that will hold true for this one too.
I felt like turning over and going back to sleep this morning in the dark but got up and went for my walk anyway.  It was a cool morning and it felt so good to feel the sun once it came up. I walked one of my connect the path routes around the neighborhood paths.  I saw three deer and a couple of rabbits.  A few people were out too.  There seemed to be a lot more cars around than usual when I was on the roads.  I took the picture this morning of the colorful Fall street just because I thought it looked so pretty.
I found a few coins today - two nickels, two pennies, and a dime.  Quite a good find since I hardly ever find coins anymore.  I walked 6.2 miles and I must admit I was glad to get home this time.  I felt a bit tired - it must be that cold coming on.

It was cold, sunny and windy all day and my clothes drying out on the line really got whipped about in the wind.  I had to keep going outside and untangling the clothes from around the line.  Luckily none of the clothes got blown off the line.  I would've had to go looking for them since the lines are up on my deck which is off the kitchen on the second floor.

I just got an email from my mom with an update on her broken wrist.  Not such good news.  She does have to have the surgery.  Monday morning she will have to have two pins put in her wrist.  Please keep her in your prayers.  Thanks.

I made bread again today but this time I made cinnamon raisin bread.  It's baking right now and smells so good.  I know once it's done that I won't be able to resist having a piece.

I've been sucking on Halls menthol cough drops throughout the day.  Man those thing sure clear out your head.  I love these things when I have a cold.  I only have two left.  Will have to go out later and get some more.  I'm hoping to go out somewhere for dinner.  I really feel pretty good considering I have a cold now, just feel a little tired after doing things.  I'm going to rest and read now till Ken comes homes from work.

I hope your Friday is a sunny, happy day for you and the start of a great weekend.

Uh oh! Drink lots of tea with honey and lemon and maybe take a nap after you walk. Let me know if you need soup!!

Sorry your mom has to have the surgery. Will keep her in my prayers.

I must need some of those cough drops because I haven't been able to smell since Tuesday. Today the stinging needles in the eye started and so I've had watery eyes. Ugh. I hate colds. Sorry that you caught one. I'm impressed with your ability to walk 6.2 miles. I feel like going back to bed, but it's time to think about supper. Hope Ken is on the mend, at least.

Sorry, too, that your mom will be having the surgery after all. They do such amazing things these days so I'm sure that she'll be good as new very soon. Perhaps they'll even use some of that glue! That stuff is incredible.

Baking bread even while feeling punk - you are good! I looked for an E-mail for you but couldn't find one, so I'll post here what our DR just sent us in E-mail:

If you prefer to avoid the flu vaccine, then be sure to supplement with extra Vitamin D during winter. At least 2000 IU for adults. We also have a new supplement from Metagenics, "Immucore" which is much better than "Emergen-C", and can be used at onset of cold or flu symptoms as as preventative if around sick folks. In addition to Vit C, Zinc, Selenium, it also has a blend of chinese mushrooms that have been shown to enhance natural T cell numbers.

I'm sorry to hear that you are coming down with a cold too. Hopefully it will be a mild one and soon you both will be all better. I am so impressed that you still get up and take your walk despite not feeling well.
I am also sorry to learn that your mom is going to need surgery. My prayers will continue.
Have a restful weekend.

Sorry you aren't feeling your best--I've been suffering the stuffy nose this week, but no sore throad. Tea and soup are what make me feel better--my "comfort foods" if you will! Hope you have some good chicken soup and lots of tea and rest to feel better soon. Prayers for your mom with her upcoming surgery. I recently had hand surgery and it's slow recovery and forces you to slow down!

Try some Zicam. It really has helped me when I felt like I was coming down with a cold. I also think echinacea tea helps. I find Traditional Medicinals echinacea the best.

My mother slipped on ice and broke her wrist a few years ago. She didn't have surgery eventhough the doctor recommended it "afer" she had healed. He recommended surgery for cosmetic reasons. After all she had been through she didn't really care about the cosmetics! Hope everything works our well for your Mom.

So sorry to hear you have come down with the cold/flu virus. Trust it will be shortlived. I am praying now for your Mom's upcoming surgery. May it correct the problem so that healing may be on its way! Blessings to you today!
