Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Gosling, turtle, a visit and a clean car.

A nice sunny morning for a walk around the lake. A lot of people must have thought that because there were a lot of people about. Stopped to chat to a few of them so my 6 mile walk lasted a little longer than usual. I passed by the goslings and this one looked like it had a hurt leg. It just stayed there for the longest time. Then dad came along and I'm happy to say he got him going again with no problem. That must be the same one who wouldn't get in the water last week!!
I also saw a turtle and stopped to take this picture. I'm not sure what kind it is. One person said it was a box turtle which I know it is NOT. Someone else said it was a mud slider. I looked that up when I got home and I don't think that is right because this is all black with no other colors and the slider had a bit of color. This turtle is big too, at least a foot. It looks to me like a snapping turtle, but the shell looks too smooth. Maybe because it's old? Anyone know what it is?

At home I did my usual morning routine, and then a few chores around the house. My friend Lillimor came over just after noon. She is the friend who I met at the Wednesday night knit group which I don't go to any more preferring the Tuesday day time group. I like the people of both just the time and place better on Tuesday.
I went to her house some weeks back. After talking and a tour of her house we didn't get any knitting done. The same thing happened today at my house. I gave her the tour, then we had a couple of cookies and lemonade, talked and then ran out of time for knitting. Next time we meet we should be able to knit!! Though no knitting got done it was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. :-)

After Lillimor left I washed my car. It was very dirty after driving in the rain this past week. I always feel good once the car is shining clean. I hate driving a dirty car!!

I still have to fold clothes but then I'm done for the day. Then maybe I can get a little knitting done! Hopefully Kenny will get to come home from work on time today. It's Friday and I'm suggesting out for pizza again tonight. Somehow I don't think I'll have to twist his arm!

A happy Friday to you!!
Happyone :-)

I folded clothes today and also gave my grandmother the chore of snipping off some little strings on the facecloths. Then she told me that she had to snip off all the tags. I've never seen a gal so cheerful about chores.

Now I don't know if you'll ever get to knitting, but it really won't matter if you're having fun with snacks and chatting. Sounds great!

I don't have a clue what kind of turtle that is..other than he looks big.

Nice to read about your day. I have no idea about the turtle. We don`t have turtles in Norway, but I wish we had because I find them cute. I have only seen turtles at the zoo. Some people keep turtles as a pet in my country, but I don`t think we are allowed to do that.

Comforting to know that goslings can be just as stubborn as human toddlers!
Look at my header, Karen. The turtle looks similar to the snapping turtle on it. (Uh, the REAL one :))

I like the new Header - I wonder what the person on the dock is thinking? That turtle looks too big for a Box. Better not investigate too closely if it is a Snapper! Have a fun weekend.

I like your new header too - looks like a good place to go fishing.

Hope you have a great weekend!

It looks as if our lake geese have lost their last gosling, probably to an otter. Canada geese are a bit of a pest here as they don't migrate but stay here all year round but it is nice to have a few on the lake.
We don't have turtles here in the UK but I was fascinated to see tortoises wandering about the countryside when we went to Turkey many years ago. It would be tempting to take one home but that is strictly illeagal, you can only buy certified captive reared tortoises. At one stage there was a turtle craze, (teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and people bought little turltles for their children. When it was realised that they bite and need daily cleaning many were flushed away and there were stories of wild populations of turtles living in the drains or in lakes. I think that is now more an urban myth on a par with pet alligators getting flushed away.

Wow, that is a big turtle. You sure do see interesting things on your walks.
How nice that you and Lillimor could have a nice visit. Driving a clean car is always a good feeling. Mine could stand to be washed, but I'm just waiting for the rain to go away.
Have a nice weekend.

I've always heard that if a snapping turtle grabs a hold on you it won't let loose until it thunders. I doubt that is true but I stay clear of all turtles since I can't tell one kind from another. lol
