Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Mowing Day

It's really nice now that it is light out when I start on my walk, but I don't get to see the sunrise anymore. A beautiful sunny, cool, calm morning. Perfect walking weather. I walked my usual 6 miles around the lake. It was mowing day and I saw 5 mowers out around the lake and paths. Lots of people out and I saw quite a few regulars as well as some new people. I learned the name of another walker too. I went off the path and down to the lake to take a picture and when I came back on the path, a man was just walking by. We walked at the exact same pace so we just started talking. His name is Ray. I walked with him for about a quarter of the way around the lake before I turned off on the upper path. Lots of birds singing and chirping, heard a woodpecker, and the geese always make a lot of noise. I saw 4 egrets today and the heron. A crow was at the edge of the water on a rock eating a fish. I was pleased that I was able to get this picture. He took off flying just after I took the picture. He left the fish and I waited for a bit for him to come back. He did, but picked up the fish and flew off with it before I could get another picture. It was really neat to watch though!
It's never boring walking around the lake. Even though its the same, its never the same. :-) I love this part of my day.
Now it's time to begin the rest of my day. It will start off with breakfast. I like that part of my day too! :-)
Enjoy your Tuesday.
Happyone :-)

I'm surprised that you don't eat breakfast first to fuel up for your walk. That is a great picture of the crow. It's funny that you're watching crows and I'm watching turkey vultures and we find them interesting. :D

That's a great picture of the bird eating the fish. It does sound like every day brings something/someone new to see on your walks.
Hope you had a good breakfast.

I saw the heron this morning, too! They amaze me.
I got up early and went to the Giant so I could be back to babysit. It's nice being out and about early.

Evidently the crow didn't want any onlookers while he had his breakfast. I guess that's why he took off for another place. If the mowers are out it means that Spring is really here.
