Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A special Sunday

Romans 6: 3-5

Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized
into Christ Jesus were baptized into His Death?

Therefore we were buried with Him
through baptism into death, that
just as Christ was raised from the dead
by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been united together in
the likeness of His death
,
certainly we also shall be in
the likeness of His resurrection.

Back in September I started going to a church down the street from me. I liked it from the moment I walked in the door. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and truly seemed to care for one another. I liked the way the pastor preached and how he took the time to talk to all of us. The next week I went to Sunday School too and I knew that this was the church for me. I asked about joining the church.
Two things were required to join.
1. You have to be saved.
2. You have to be baptized.
You can attend the church without joining of course because the goal is to save people. The first one was no problem but I had not been baptized. The church I grew up in just didn't believe in being Baptized. I've attended other churches throughout the years when I became an adult but never found one I really liked. Though I haven't gone to a church in years, I have read my Bible and I pray every day and always thought that was enough. Now that I have found this church I knew it wasn't enough. I just hadn't found the right one. So a few weeks ago I decided to become a member of this church and today I was Baptized (full immersion). I believe as does this church that you don't HAVE to be baptized to be saved and go to heaven but it is a symbol to the world that you believe. Today I made God smile! :-)

Kenny was there with me today and my parents drove down from Pennsylvania and they were there also. Kenny said I had a big smile on my face and looked I extremely happy. I am so glad God lead me to this church.

Happyone :-)

Many, many congratulations Karen. It takes a big step of faith to be baptised by total immersion and tell the world that you are following Jesus. I am so pleased for you.
I was baptised and my husband and two of our 3 children, all by total immersion as adults.
Have a wonderful day.

This post made me smile, too. Not that I believe any differently than you do about baptism, but it is something very special. And I'm so glad that you've found such a wonderful church!

Tears...because I know what this means to you. I have been baptized but I need it again...too much slipping and sliding...I am trying to get there and still looking for that right church. Thank you for your sharing of this very special moment! Much Love, Pamie

PS: We got our bikes at Target, they are going fast but the prices are good, Schwinn 24" Ranger Mountain for me (tires are bigger and rugged) and Don's is a Schwinn Clearcreek Comfort 26", he is so tall that this one fit much better. Both bikes were around $199.00 each. The basket was only $14 and comes off easily and has a handle so I can carry it into the woods for nature shopping!

I can truly understand that big smile! I was baptized in infancy but have seen many adult full immersion baptisms. The joy is indescribable!
