Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A look at the heron

It was a little cooler again last night so when morning came there were some icy patches again while walking around the lake. The sun came out though and it was a great morning for walking. The sun felt so good on my face! I was walking along the path that leads to the lake and stopped on the little foot bridge over the stream. There were big hunks of frozen snow from the plow along the sides and I had a bit of fun throwing them over the railing and watching them splash into the water. I saw the heron at the edge of the lake. Just before I took this picture I saw him eat a fish. Really cool!!Here's a squirrel that just stayed on this part of the snow while I passed by so I took the opportunity to take his picture. I told him I was going to put his picture on my blog and then he took off. He was not impressed.I saw another animal run up ahead on the path but could not tell what it was. It looked like a small slim ground hog but it moved way too fast and it didn't have the wobble that ground hogs walk with. I can't think what it could be. He didn't stay around long enough for me to get his picture.
I walked 6.384 miles which was 13,083 steps.

I have started doing my exercise video again of Body Electric. I miss the workout that it gives me. Even though you can get a good workout with the Wii I feel like I work harder with the video. I will still do the Wii because it's fun! I'm a bit sore today from the workout but a good sore.

I didn't eat breakfast until after 10 this morning and then it was an English muffin. I got the cinnamon raisin kind. I hadn't had one of those in a long time and it sure tasted good!

I just puttered around the house today doing a little of this and that. Didn't get very much accomplished but there was nothing I HAD to get done. It will all be there tomorrow and I enjoyed today.
I got a little knitting and some reading in too.

After dinner we went out and did a few errands.

I am only having 2 cookies instead of 4 because I still haven't been able to lose those couple of pounds from the cruise. I thought once I got back to walking that those pounds would come off but it ain't happening. So the next step is cut out a few extra calories.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thursday

That is a fabulous shot of the heron! Lucky you!

Don't stress too hard about a couple of extra pounds. I think the time of the year doesn't help. You had a long lay off from your walking routine through no fault of your own. It won't take you long to shed them. Maybe the Wii put some muscle on you and that's what you're noticing as extra pounds. Muscle = good! =D

Thanks for identifying the stiles on my Tell Me Thursday post. That was definitely a first for us. We just thought it was due to the flimsy-appearing fence!

HI Dear Karen,

Those lines in the thought are really good.... And your post is good for it helps me know how each day of yours has gone...

You're doing the right thing just cutting back a little--not a lot. Cutting back too much is counter-productive I've found. I always love your blog. It's so cheering.

Yes, either give up two cookies or walk an extra 6.2 miles. ;>

I've decided to call you Dr. Doolittle with all the animal shots that you're able to capture on your walks.

Isn't that heron magnificent?? Can't believe he wasn't impressed with your announcement, however!
