Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Walking on ice

Only walked 4.3 miles yesterday because I ran out of time. I started out a bit later than usual again and I had to leave home a little before 9 to go to church. Today I went around the mostly frozen lake and walked 6.3 miles. Not many people out on this cold Monday morning, but they are saying warmer weather should arrive on Wednesday. Some of the regular walkers I know walk the Mall when the weather is cold. I've tried that, but it just doesn't work for me. I NEED to be outside walking. I could never live anywhere where the whole winter was too cold for outside walking.

The chili get-to-gether yesterday with Cheryl/Rob and Jackie/Kerry went very well. I'm so happy that my two sets of friends liked each other. :-) Jackie brought over some delicious corn bread she had made which went so good with the chili. She also made honey butter with a touch of cinnamon in it that was delicious too. Cheryl and Rob brought these beautiful flowers for us.The vase that I've put them in belonged to my gramma. When my dad was a little boy he bought the vase for his mom her birthday for 25 cents!

Ken once had a beautiful HO train layout that he had made in the garage at the old house. He tore it all down when we moved. He wasn't sure if he wanted to build another one here but he has gotten the urge to build another one.
He started building some bench work for it and here's what he's done so far.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I found a pattern for little mitts without thumbs for the preemie babies for Bonnie's project. I made this pair this afternoon. They are very easy and quick to do. I'll be making these instead of the little slippers which aren't needed. I got a little cleaning done, laundry and ironing. Now it's time for a little reading. I hope your Monday was a good start to the new week and someone made you smile today. Happyone :-) If you are tempted to lose patience with others, stop and think how patient God has been with you.

I've never been much on mall walking either - much rather the outdoors!

Gosh you're taking all the fun out of being impatient. Ha!

Those little preemie mitts are adorable.

Glad that your dinner went well...it's good to have friends come in and enjoy a meal together and have the opportunity to talk about everything and anything.

I'll be watching Ken's progress with the model train with interest.

Thank you for inviting us to your home. It was really nice to socialize, and the food was delicious!

Thanks for being such a good friend.

I tried mall walking a couple of times when it was really hot and I was on chemotherapy. Didn't care for it. I like the great outdoors.

Pretty flowers from your friend and what a sweet story about the vase.
The little mitts are just precious. I can imagine how sweet the little babies who will wear them are.
We're looking forward to a warmer ending to our week too. I am ready.

It sounds as if Ken has found a good cold-weather project. I don't like walking in malls either -- it's so much nicer outdoors, even if there is a nip in the air.

Hi! Looks like I've been missing out on bunches of stuff - Bonnie's project huh? I guess I'll have to keep reading to figure out what that is. The weather out here has been mild lately. I think we had our winters cold spell already. I was on the porch last night with Bear in my shirt sleeves - it was 52* at 6:00 pm - almost feels like spring. Hope you guys warm up soon!

XOXO - Brad
