Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

I didn't walk yesterday because of the ice. But now that we have Fios television, I did a couple of the exercise programs that were on the Fit Network, though I did miss walking. The exercise DVD that I usually do, I've had for years so now I'll be able to do different ones on television.
I went walking this morning, but it was a bit haphazard because a lot of the sidewalks still have ice on them. So I would walk until I came to ice and then turn around and go another way. I managed to walk 6.4 miles like that.
I walked down streets, around apartment buildings, and some paths. I turned around when
I got to this ice and snow covered foot bridge.
It was unusual that I didn't see ANYBODY out walking or running, not even some one walking their dog!! It was dark and cold when I started out. After sunrise it was cloudy with a few peaks of the sun.

Later on in the morning I walked down to church to drop something off and then walked to the Giant to pick up a few things. It was still icy in places but it got a bit warmer as the day went on and there was more melting of the ice and snow.

Did a few things around the house and then knitted. I finished Preemie Hat number 4. This one is a little bit bigger because the yarn is a bit thicker. I still used number 2 needles. Then I knitted some more on the scarf. What a difference going from size 2 needles to size 9!

Got some reading in too and now I'm writing this. Ken is due home from work soon.

I hope you had a happy start to the week and this Monday finds you smiling.

I agree, a good brisk walk can ease any angst.

I know it makes me feel much better when I walk even a short distance. Someday maybe I'll have to try 5 miles.

We've had our first skiff of snow for the season as well.

I'm knitting for the first time in years...a scarf on large needles. It's relaxing!

My Dear Karen,

I sure do look upto you and knowing that you have been walking for the past 21 years really does put me in a state of complete awe. I sure wonder whether I can say this one day to someone. But i am happy to know that i found a great inspiration in you.

Also as for your pictures of the snow, i love them. I always wanted to live in a place where it snows, atleast to celebrate the spirit of Christmas. But i am sure, one day it'll come true.
