Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

I woke up to

LOTS of rain and wind and decided I would skip my walk for the day. I did my exercise tape. Had some breakfast and then did a few things around the house. I was feeling a bit out of shorts about not walking so I put on my rain pants, got out the umbrella and headed out for my walk in the rain. I walked my usual 6 miles and went around the lake. I had the lake practically all to myself - I only saw two others out there. The rain did lighten up and even stopped for a while. So glad that I decided to walk because my day got back on track again! :-)

It was kind of drizzly the rest of the day and I spent some time reading. I'm reading another book by Marcia Willard. I like this author a lot!
I've also started knitting another white square for the white sample afghan I'm working on. I'm more than half finished with the afghan now. I'm hoping the last half will get done a lot quicker than the first. I've been working on this for a couple of years.

When Ken came home from work we walked over to the little shopping center across the street to the pizza place and had supper there. Their pizza is very good though the people who work there are not very friendly. The one man reminds me of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld! There is also a Subway, a sandwich shop called Heavenly Ham and a Chinese restaurant. We stopped in at the Chinese place and got a menu. We will have to go there one day soon to try it out.

The last couple of days we watched a couple episodes of a TV show called House that we got from the library. It's a medical show about a team of doctors who specialize in patients who have unusual things wrong with them that no one else can diagnose. This team of course figures it out. It wouldn't be a bad show but I just can't stand one of the doctors who is very rude to everyone. We would rather not watch the show than have to listen to him. So that is the end of that show for us. Tonight we will watch an episode of Fraiser and then one of Seinfeld.
I will have some ice cream and knit on the ripple afghan. Afterwards I'll read some more.

I hope your Tuesday was filled with sunshine even if the weather was rainy.
Happyone :-)

  1. The Chinese place is quite good -- we get carryout from there a lot.
House's attitude gets to me, too. He's brilliant, but socially inept. It just gets old after a while -- although I do like Hugh Laurie, the actor who plays that part.

  2. What a day to walk! It rained cats and dogs. Filled my rain gauge to the top. I'm glad the walk got you back to 'you'.

I used to watch House. I got tired of it too.

I want our good weather back!!!

  3. You are very dedicated with your walking. I should try to follow your good example.

I think it's sad that your neighborhood pizza place has good food but unfriendly workers. That can ruin a business in short order.

Sounds like you had a good day. Thanks for stopping around my blog. I was curious if you would comment about my hubby's hike earlier today. :-) We'll be posting his photos in a few days.

  4. We have a "soup nazi" too. Does everyplace have one? Ours glares at us from the kitchen of the local pizzeria. It's enough to make you want to run out the door. Ha!

  5. I completely understand your feelings about needing to get in your walk -- I feel the same way when I don't get enough walking in a day.
I have to admit we watch "House", although I don't think it was as good this past season as it has been. Dr. House definitely needs to work on his bedside manners!
