Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Walking outside once again!!

Yesterday it was very cold and windy with ice and snow around so I didn't go out to walk again. This has been a bad year for walking - I don't remember when I've missed so many walking outside days. Nothing much happening - just at home doing usual stuff yesterday and today. The temperature was 8 degrees when I got up this morning, but the sun came out and there was no wind and in a few hours it warmed up to 30 degrees so I went for my walk then. It was kind of a haphazard walk because some of the sidewalks and paths were shoveled and some weren't. I would walk and when I came to ice and snow I'd turn around and go another way. It made for a crazy walking route. Here are some pictures of the paths.
Walked down this shoveled path.
Then turned around when I got here.
A few tries here before they actually found the path!
Then turned around once again when I got here.
Came across a group (herd?) of 8 deer and got a couple more pictures of deer.
Here is a young one.
And here is one trying to hide!
It was great getting outside and to walk again. It was so nice I ended up walking 7.4 miles. :-) I think with the weather warming up we have seen the last of this cold winter. By the weekend we are supposed to have temperature back in the 60's. I hope it stays warmer for good now. I was thinking that we turned the clocks ahead at the end of the month but we do it this weekend. I was just getting used to it being light in the morning - now it will go back to being dark once again. I'm just going to be lazy the rest of the day - reading and needlepoint. I hope you all are having a Happy Day. :-)

It sounds as if you had a great walk this morning, wven if it did involve some dead ends as far as cleared paths were concerned. Great pictures of the deer. They're saying our temperatures could reach 70° this weekend. YEA!!!

Me too, being lazy -- doing laundry, knitting, cleaning up. Soon I'll be able to work outside.

I remember when I used to walk to school they wouldn't keep trying until they found the path. The path they created was on the side of the hill in the grass.

I enjoy walking too. But I have a treadmill so I do it inside. I havn't had a good pattern of walking for a while now. To much going on. You reminded me of how good it will be to get back to it.
take care, Iris

Now you did a marvelous job of capturing the deer. They may get to be your friends and pose!

Funny about the paths...hard to know which way to go. If the temps are warming up in your world to 60 this weekend, all this ice and snow will be behind you. I'm looking forward to the time change, but then, I'm not much of a very early morning person.

Thanks for your sweet comments in my corner. They warmed my heart!

Good morning,
The clocks "spring" forward this weekend so it will be lighter in the morning. It will be dull when I get off work. The days are getting longer though. Thank heavens.

Susan - I still say it will be darker in the morning because when I get up at 6:00 and we spring ahead that will then be 7:00.
So it will be the same darkness at 7 that it is at 6 now.
The new time of 6:00 will be the old 5:00.
I may have just confused things even more. :-)

I will enjoy it staying lighter in the evening!

Glad the weather is finally breaking in your little corner of the world. Almost all our snow is gone but I don't get my hopes up until May! We've had some doozie snowstorms in April quite a few times! I am looking forward to Spring and to see GREEN again! Take care.
p.s. thank you for your prayers...they helped.

Thanks for the tip on the mall. Did you hear it's supposed to be in the 70's this weekend? Wow!

It must be great to have so many new places to walk. One day...

You are absolutely right! When I woke up in the dark I realized I had it all wrong. So much for my smarty pants. Mea Culpa
