Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A new path along the way

I had a great walk this morning. I waited until the sun was up and headed out the door when the temperature was 20 degrees. By the time I got home it was up 10 degrees to 30. I gave any ice I saw a very wide berth. :-) I didn't go around the lake today but stayed on sidewalks and walked around neighborhoods. Well, I did go off the sidewalk and when I came across this path. It called to me, so I followed it a short ways and came across this old fallen down stone building. It was so nice walking with the sun shining that I ended up walking 7.2 miles - I have to make up for the days I haven't been able to walk! I crossed streets in three different crosswalks and even though there are these big signs around not one person stopped. Only once in a great while does anyone stop. My plan was to clean bathrooms today but I ended up not doing that. Instead I did some shredding. I only got through half of it and even though I like to shred you can just do so much shredding at one sitting. Next I did my exercise tape and then I went up to my loft and read and did some more needlepoint. The time just zooms by when I do needlepoint. It was just about time for Kenny to come home from work when he called and said he was going out with his coworkers and wouldn't be home for supper. I did a little more needlepoint and then I made myself French toast for supper with the homemade bread that I made the other day and it was delicious. I've decided not to buy bread anymore and will just make all I need. It's so easy and fast to make with the machine and tastes so much better. When I get finished being on the computer in a little while, I'm going to sit by the fire and read. Happy Friday to you all and have a great weekend. :-)

Sounds like you had a good walk today. Just be careful with all the ice that is around. Homemade bread sounds delicious. I have a bread machine, but I have not been successful with making bread. I guess I need to get a good recipe for the bread. I even tried the ready to make mixes and they were not great. Post a picture of the needlepoint when you are finished.

Have a good weekend.

I like things like that old stone building. I once went walking with a friend outside of Boston and he showed me a stone wall in the woods supposedly built by men in the revolutionary army. You don't see anything like that out here in the west where the oldest of old buildings is like from 1880!

What a great day you had today! It was also comforting to hear that most of your time was spent upright!

Oh and PS -- the photo reminds me of Frost's poem: "I shall be telling this with a sigh, somewhere ages and ages hence; Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." Nice to take an unplanned path, isn't it?

I liked that stone building you found on your walk. I wonder what's the story behid it? If it makes you feel any better Tennessee drivers don't stop for pedestrians in crosswalks either.

It looks like you have some really neat places to walk and to investigate along these paths!!

I am glad you are well after your bump on the head. That's a scary experience! That's a dangerous thing if that happened to me with my seizures...
Today on the way walking to work, I slipped on the ice and did quite a number on my left knee as I wiped out and it's banged up pretty bad with cuts and bruises but I'm glad I did not bump the head... whew!

Have a good weekend and the scarf is still in good use and keeping me nice and warm!

Hug♥

I'm catching up! Your day sounded wonderful. Like me, you keep yourself entertained with the little things. It's what life's all about.

BTW, I always stop for pedestrians. And I'm so glad you were able to have a long walk with a new trail to explore.

It sounds like a very nice day. I would imagine you are enjoying exploring new walking paths in your new neighborhood.
Whenever I use my bread machine I think I should do this more often. They do make a good loaf of bread and nothing beats that smell in the house.

So glad you are out walking again!!

We have a LOT Of cross walks in my area...since we are a college town and campus is a bit spread out. I always stop....but I do see other cars that don't...and I also see the students stepping out into the road whether a car is travelling fast or not. It can be a bit scary...especially at night.

Have you posted a pic of the needle point you are working on?

Hey Happy One! Nice walk! Nothing like exploring a new path. I do so much of my walks and runs in the dark that it is hard to see things, including ice. And I notice too how little regards drivers have for pedestrians. Just part of the general lack of courtesy we all to often encounter. Enjoy the day! Art

You can't keep a walking woman on the sofa for long! Looks as if you are enjoying your new walking adventures and all the sights out there.

Shredding? You like it? I hate that chore almost more than any other. I think it's because I don't enjoy looking through stuff deciding if I need to save it or shred it.

Hope that the noggin is feeling better.

The walk sounds very nice and it`s always nice to find new places to walk. Homemade bread is the best and probably most healty as well.
My family loves it when I make breads.
Hugs and smiles!

Kerri - I posted a picture of the needlepoint quite a while ago on my old blog. Just picked it up again and this time I am going to finish it. It's of a lighthouse. I'll post a picture of it when I'm done.
