Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A new challenge

This first day of 2009 was cold, but bright and sunny and I'm happy to say calm with no wind. We went out to eat last night with our friends Jackie and Kerry and then we all went back to our house for a while. Always nice to spend time with them. Then a little after 8 we headed back out and went to Bonnie and Steve's party. It was a great party and we really enjoyed our night out. Bonnie's house is so cool and I just love all the colors they have painted their walls. Colors that you wouldn't think go together look great in her house. Since we didn't go to bed until 1:40 last night I slept in a bit until 7:15 and then got up and went for my morning walk. This first day of the year I only walked 4 miles because I got a late start and I was hungry and wanted to get home and make pancakes. :-) I'll walk a little extra tomorrow. I counted up my walking miles for 2008 and the total was 2,255 miles! Our son David came by today and spent a couple of hours with us. A nice start to the new year. On the LibraryThing I have started the 75 Book Challenge for 2009. I am going to keep track of the books on the side bar of my blog. Anyone else up for the challenge? A pretty quiet day - surprising isn't it since we are moving on Tuesday? You would think we would be busy packing things up. This certainly is a stress free move. It's so nice to be able to move so leisurely!! Well, I'd better go and start reading that first book! Happy New Year!!

Enjoy the calm before the storm of your move. It sounds as if you've gotten 2009 off to a good start!

Funny you should mention the book thing. I've posted my Shelfari list on my blog just today. This is a site in which I keep track of some of the books I've read. Check out the left side of the blog for a partial list. If you click on the book title, available reviews come up.
Today I finished TEARS OF THE GIRAFFE for book club and I'm about to begin Wally Lamb's new book.

I would like to accept your challenge but I'm afraid I couldn't do it. I used to read all the time until I got a computer.

I am not much of a reader but I will accept your challenge in hopes that it will enhance my reading laziness!

75? Seventy-five? Ackkk...this is the sound of whining...why 75? That's more than one a week! :D

Sincere congrats on all those miles walked! You inspire me.

How's the packing going?

vee - why 75? Last year I my goal was 50 and I made it easily so just went for the 75.
Can you believe we haven't done any packing yet!! We are just going to pack up things as we bring them over to the new house. Everything we don't want will stay at the old house and we will have a big HOUSE sale.

I'm thinkin' I could take that challenge! You'll just have to keep reminding me to post my books on my sidebar because I'm notoriously forgetful! LOL! I FINISHED a book yesterday...does that one count? LOL!

Jan, Yes it certainly does and yes I will remind you. :-)

The 75 book challenge....well I'd like to try but it sounds a bit tough...that about one and a half books a week isn't it. Maybe I'll try 52 books!
