Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

My friend the deer

A rainy, warm 60 degree morning for my walk today. I stopped at the post office first to mail the Christmas cards that I've finished and then continued on to the paths and walked 6.8 miles. The park workers went along the path yesterday filling in all the gullies and holes with crushed stone. We who use the path are lucky that they take such good care of the walking paths. I saw 5 deer along the side of the path. Four of them ran farther in the woods as I passed but the 5th one stayed by the edge of the path and looked at me. This is the same deer that I see every once in a while. I took some real close up pictures of it a while back. I know it's the same deer because she has a little scar on her front leg. For some reason she isn't afraid of me. I talked to her for a little bit and then she just turned and walked away and joined the other 4 deer. It is so cool to have a deer friend. :-) It rained on and off all day so I just stayed home. I baked some mini pumpkin bread loaves. They are the cutest little things. I like that it makes 7 loaves at once. It's just a little something I bake to give away to neighbors and friends for Christmas.
In the pans.
Out of the pans cooling.
I spent more time making more Christmas cards. I am almost finished with all of them and this is the last time I will mention these cards on this blog. I've had fun making them but will be glad when they are finally done. :-) My hair dryer is on it's last legs. Today it had a hard time starting and when it did it smelled like it was burning so I thought it was time to buy a new one. We had supper tonight at Red Robin and afterward went across the street to Target and I bought a new hair dryer. We have been looking for some square dishes to buy for quite a while and we found some that we both liked at Target. We got 4 dinner plates, 4 dessert plates, 4 salad plates, and 4 bowls. The picture doesn't show the true red color that they are. That's about it for today. I hope this Wednesday was a Happy One for you!

I saw a woman in the locker room this week with a dryer that looked like it was 35 years old. A relic. I guess it still worked fine, and I liked that it wasn't thrown away just because it was old.

Nice dishes! Do you ever use your Fiesta Ware?

You're making me hungry with that delilcious-looking bread! I occasionally see a deer on my walks but so far she hasn't been very friendly. What's your secret?

What a beautiful story about the deer. It made me smile to hear how you have bonded with the forest creatures like that. Hugs to you.

Also thank you so much for coming by my blog while I was feeling so sick with my epilepsy... you are a wonderful friend. Thank you.

Ohhhh, I can smell those pumpkin loaves from here. Yummy!

I like your square dishes...very distinctive.

Lucky you to see so many deer, but I suppose that it's a result of being such a regular with the forest crowd.

I like the little loaves. At Starbucks one of our bakers used tiny ones that made individual servings. Wish I could find a pan like that!
