Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A day at the races

This past Sunday we drove up to Hagerstown, Maryland to the Mason-Dixon Dragway and spent the day watching drag races. It's only about a hour and a half from home and we drove up all along back roads. It was such a beautiful day out and Maryland has some beautiful scenery to look at along the way.
Here I am standing on the drag strip.
I love the dragsters - they are so long and look so cool and boy are they fast. A couple of them went over 200 miles an hour.
This is a Challenger - My first car was a 70 Challenger - red of course!!
Here are just a few more pictures.
It wasn't crowed and there were plenty of good seats. We got there early before the racing began and walked around and looked at all the cars that would be racing and got to talk to some of the drivers. We bought hot dogs and soda for lunch and sat on the bleachers to eat them. The weather was beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed the day at the races. Before Ken and I were married we went to the drag races in Englishtown, New Jersey and this is the first time we we've been back. A couple of years ago we went to Dover, Delaware to the races, but that was racing around a track and for me it was boring just to watch them go around and around and the noise was deafening. I much prefer the drag races. On the way home we stopped to look at our empty lot (TownHouse) and then went up the street and had supper at LeeLynn's. It was so nice that we sat outside at a table. In fact every one was outside eating - the dining room was empty. A most enjoyable day. :-)

I love how you and Kenny have your outings. A couple that plays together stays together. Corny, but true.

My first car was a Dodge Demon. I couldn't afford a Challenger, but that was what I really wanted!

I just viewed your day at the races. Thought i would let you know that we have a 1972 Dodge Challenger and a l967 Pontiac GTO. The Challenger is a bright lime green with black interior and we are in the process of preparing the GTO for a new paint job. Will send you pictures when I can figure out how to do it.
